He doesn't look very easy to bring down when you tackle him high. However, on one of the pass plays his pass blocking didn't look so hot.

Junior Alex Ross has been honored as one of the top high school players in the country.

Jenks’ star running back and Oklahoma commit earned an nomination Wednesday to play in the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

“I was actually really caught off guard,” Ross said after his nomination ceremony at the Sharp Center.

Ross rushed for 28 touchdowns and almost 1,700 yards as a junior for the Trojans, averaging an astounding 13.2 yards per carry for the Class 6A runners-up.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder also returned three kickoffs for touchdowns and had three TD receptions.

Scout.com ranks him as the nation’s No. 15 running back and a four-star prospect for the class of 2012. He was an all-metro pick last season and ranks in the top five in the state in the 100 meters (10.58 seconds) and 200 meters (21.56 seconds).

Ross is the second Oklahoman to get consideration for the game, which is held in San Antonio every January. OKC Heritage Hall’s Barry J. Sanders has accepted an invitation to the event.

Two Trojans have played in the game previously - Gabe Lynn (2009) and Phillip Dillard (2005).

I think we are getting one of the most underrated backs in the country. He has only been doing this for not even a full year. He will have a full year this senior year to show off his skills. I wonder if he will enroll early.

This guy is going to have a huge Sr. year at Jenks HS. A few elite HS running backs will do 8 or 9 yards/ carry, but 13.2yds/carry is ridiculously good. When you check out stats like that, the only explanation for Ross is that he's almost unstoppable. I thought the stats were a misprint when I noticed the first time.

Won a state medal yesterday

"Ross exploded out of the block in the Class 6A 200-meter finals, opened up a lead at the turn and held off Marquis Walters of Del City to win. His time of 21.97"

I honestly feel like Ross would be the number 1 runningback in the country if he had been there his whole career. He had to move to RB midway through the season last year and he put up crazy stats. He's a man-child like AD was in HS; bigger and faster than everyone he played against.

Agreed!!

He is slowly but surely moving up everybody's recruiting board. After he starts putting up big numbers this year, I think he ends up rated top 5 at his position.... :gundy:

Anyone who lives in the Tulsa MEtro area and keeps up with sports at all has heard of this kid. He is a better RB than anyone in the state and can run over anyone, He has the potential to be better than demarco murray, If only he had play RB all his life

He has injured his collar bone twice. The second time it was in the semii-finals which Jenks lost in the last seconds of the game. Had he stayed healthy and been able to play the second half, Jenks would have progressed to the Championship game with Union again. There is always next year, but Jenks will not have an Alex Ross.
