    Places to eat in Houston

So we’ve lived here since 1999. The wife and I love to find hidden treasures. I feel like I’ve hit most of the good spots. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions that were a bit off the beaten path. For instance: Best Mexican - Irma’s Best Indian - Kiran Best Steak - Taste of Texas...

    Let's Talk Bourbon

Became my drink of choice back in 2005 when my Mother in Law was living with us. Started with this and now sample different makers to see the difference. Still like this very much...goes great in Diet Coke. Its also very good for bourbon sauce. Want to try this.....but it's $80...

    Store-bought salsa

I often try a new jar or salsa when grocery shopping, usually turns out somewhere between 'meh' and 'not bad' but I tried Towhead salsa and it's incredible. The 'hot' is tasty but not as hot as I like; the Habanero is hot and very Habanero-ey. It's really fucking good. Made in Tuttle, OK....

    What's for Breakfast?

I eat the same breakfast probably 6 days a week and have yet to get tired of it. It's a mix of shredded wheat, uncle sam, grape nuts, and an ass load of fruit. Today had banana, raisins, strawberrys, blueberrys, raspberrys, and blackberrys. Cereal porn:

Does anyone use the Sous Vide method to cook meat?

I'm thinking of giving it a try. Probably going to use a crock pot and a temperature controller at first before I spend a bunch of money on a Sous Vide circulator.

    Potluck

A tub of potato salad purchased from the grocery store? Really? You're so lazy you can't take a minute and think of something better than a tub of store-bought potato salad that has the palatability of a tub of dog shit? Might as well top it off by wearing a pair of George Costanza sweatpants. ...

    Terrific pretzel recipe

    Coffee Habits

I moved to OKC (Midtown, specifically) from Edmond in January. In Edmond, I made my own coffee almost every morning with the occasional Evoke/Aspen/Starbucks run. But, since I've been down here, I have made coffee at home 3 times (all in the past month because I bought a new grinder). I...

    What’s your favorite holiday desert?

Mine is Apple-Pie and Lemon Cheesecake. My wife and I️ eat really healthy so both recipes for each now vs the past are out of a book called “The Wild Diet” and both are really delicious. That being said, we do splurge every Christmas morning and make sausage balls which are really tasty too....

    Smokers...

I am a pretty decent grill artist but I'm looking at getting into smoking, especially with the fish that we catch. One of my neighbors is getting into it pretty heavily and I must admit it in the fall when the air is a little crisp, there's nothing like smelling Hickory, or pecan, or Applewood...
