I use hickory mostly, because its readily available. But I like Pecan, apple, and apricot at well.

It's a good time. Not sure how I pulled off back to back wins with as much beer as we drank. Plus, there's lots of good cooks there and even a hand full of professional teams.

Apparently I was ripped off. Winner got points from 6 judges, I only got points from 5 judges. We'll see how it turns out.
Max points in each category was 135. They gave the winner 139 in grilled.
Looks like I was the first loser. Took 2nd overall with a first place in smoked item and 2nd in grilled.
Mostly friends, but my daughter loves to help.
