Well, Lester has started the game like he often does against the White Sox.
Lester is 5-5, 5.20 in nine career starts against the White Sox. That's his highest ERA against an American League team

Mission accomplished. Pale hose up next.
From the Globe this morning. I knew it had been awhile.
• The Sox had not won a game when trailing after eight innings since last July 19, when they beat the White Sox, 3-1, on a walkoff home...
Wow, a decent outing by Doubront and a huge bases clearing double by WMB in the 9th for the win. Off to the twin cities for 3 with Buchholz Friday night.
Some interesting notes from Peter Abraham of the Globe this morning.
• You probably would have signed up for 22-16 through 38 games on April 1. That's a pace to win 93 games. The problem is...
No doubt.
It's never good when the game headlines include the word "reeling" in front of Red Sox.
Man, this bullpen can give up the home runs. Disappointing to lose the start by Buchholz.
Stellar outing.
Hanrahan to the 60 day DL. Doesn't sound like it's a forearm "strain". De La Torre up from Pawtucket. They really need a good outing from Lackey tonight.
Batting practice at Fenway tonight. Pretty disappointing to see Webster pitching so poorly. Maybe they should have left Doubront in the rotation.
This is interesting. I saw a report after the Doubront start against the Rangers that his fastball is off 4-5 mph from where it was last year. Glad to see they are not waiting around for him to get...
Not sure that anybody wants Aceves back on team, but I am not sure there are a lot of internal options right now. I'm not saying that Aceves should close (although he's done it before obviously), but...
Another day, another closer injured. Not sure who steps into that role now. May have to bring Aceves back up if Hanrahan goes to the DL.
Would not expect it to get much better today. Heading out the door to Thunder-Grizzlies, then check in on the Sox afterwards.
Could have been the Thunder ball boy......looking for Patrick Beverley
Bit of a red flag with Lester's last two outings. Also, the bullpen guys seem to be giving up some big hits now. A bit troubling with 3 in Arlington coming this weekend. On a positive note, David...
A little about Alfredo Aceves from Pete Abraham of the Globe today. I can't see him back in Boston again, at least not as a member of the Red Sox.
But as he did with the Yankees, Aceves wore out...
Aceves to Pawtucket. No corresponding move yet, but expect Lavarnway in Boston. Lackey will most likely be activated Sunday, and they will have to send somebody down.
May have to find a way to send Aceves packing.
Bard is back today. Tied at 3 in the 5th.
But we will probably need em tomorrow night too. And yes, they could really use Bard. No idea what his problem is.

Just when I thought we could use Mortensen, Wilson and Wright to finish this one.....
Just how many double headers have they played at Fenway since 1971? Can't be very many. With that said, I probably was listening to that one in '71 and threw some crap around the house when they did...
I am not concerned with how any of them are pitching, I'm concerned that they are making too many appearances. Can't run them out there every night.
Miller seems to slipping back into the "I...
Jonathan Mayo/MLB.com's Top 100:
1. Mark Appel - RHP - Stanford
2. Jonathan Gray - RHP - University of Oklahoma
3. Sean Manaea - LHP - Indiana State
4. Clint Frazier - OF - GA high school

No need to apologize. Looks like you were just responding to my thoughts on the Royals. I have followed the Royals for a long time. Used to listen to Buddy Blatner (then Fred White) with Denny...
I am already having concerns about overusing Tazawa, Uehara, and Bailey. They need to get Hanrahan, Breslow, and Morales healthy and back in the pen.
Not saying they're there now, just that they have lots of good young talent, finally seem willing to commit more money, and their pitching is much improved.
Happy to get the win today, but I must say I am very impressed with the Royals. Cain absolutely hammered the ball every time up and Perez is an all star behind the plate. If their pitching holds up,...
I suspect you are correct.
That was some impressive bullpen work tonight. 4 IP, 0 hits, 0 BB, 8K. Nice job by Aceves also.
Well, you can't lose tomorrow night. What a deal!
Even though Dubront wasn't exactly Mr. Efficient tonight, he did continue the streak by Sox starters this year....at least 5 innings and no more than 3 runs.
Old friend Justin Masterson tomorrow...
He actually did a nice job to get out of the jam. I do think I would be more comfortable with him rather than Hanrahan. Looks like Big Papi still dealing with heel issues, missed game again last...
Looks like it's Bailey's turn to choke it as the closer.
Meanwhile, the Oakland Former Red Sox...er, A's won their 7th in a row. Red****, Lowrie, Brandon Moss (5 RBI's last night), and others I'm sure.
Uehara, Tazawa, and Bailey have been lights out. Hanrahan....not so much.
Hanrahan gives up a 5 spot in the top of the 9th. Feels like old times!
Nice to see the Sooners beat up on the Horn closer.
Not good for former Sooner and Norman High hurler

NEW YORK -- Baltimore Orioles pitcher Daniel McCutchen has been suspended for 50...
Saw this in the Globe this morning.
It's a long season and we'll see how it all plays out. But after the events of the last few seasons, there clearly is a different atmosphere around this...
Nice to get the first one in Toronto tonight. Middlebrooks & Napoli with some power finally and Doubront with a decent outing. I like this bullpen....several power arms.
Made my annual trip to Ft...
Oberste sac fly wins it 2-1
Sooners bases loaded, nobody out
Going to the bottom of the tenth at 1-1
1-1 bottom of the ninth
Glad youre OK. See Jeff at AutoCraft in Norman. He's the best.
I saw former Sooner (and Norman High grad) Daniel McCutchen close out the Red Sox for Baltimore in Ft. Myers today. Hope he sticks in the O's pen.
In Tampa tomorrow for Red Sox-Yankees. My first trip to Steinbrenner Field. Looking forward to it. ESPN2 at noon central.
