I know some years back in S.E Okla at least one high school that couldn't get OU to even return calls about some players. At least two of those players went on to other schools and had very good carers..One still playing Canadian football. Then few years later this same high school had one of the top five players in the country, OU wanted him badly..coaches at the school pointed him elsewhere. I really don't know much how the staff up there now does things, maybe it's better now
Isn't the football program awash in revenue? Should be some bucks to hire more staff. If we are short, fire Mike, hire a sub at $500-600.000 and have enough left over to hire 2 more people.
Did Jacobs play the Championship Game?
i think a lot of people tend to forget that jacobs' final two schools were mizzou and bama. all i remember about the guy is hearing that he wanted to get out of oklahoma. i don't know if that explains why none of the area schools showed him much interest or what but even if ou had been in on the guy from the beginning, he was going to leave the state anyway.
Probably more of a trying to keep him quiet type thing. OU knew about him and was saving the offer in case someone better came along. But in the mean time, they didn't want to offer so that other schools wouldn't look at him. It obviously backfired! Just a theory.
How did everyone miss Wes Welker?----It happens
Gotta be Massey from Spiro. That's about the only kid I can think of.
one or two from Broken Bow and Ardmore. if Ardmore counts. Taj Collins? kid went to Miami, I forget his name.
Op, it's quite simple, he wasn't overlooked by ou. OU offered him a scholarship before Alabama.

Don't feel so bad, my neighbor here in Houston is a big Longhorn fan, is I want to ruin hie day I remind him that Mack Brown missed out on Andy Dalton, Andrew Luck and Adrian Peterson. If I want to ruin his year, I remind him that UT lost to Kansas in Football.
