If true, I'm wondering if he went in the way of Michael Hutchence.

"In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
    Heaven sent Hell away
No one sings like you anymore"

For a song that was meant to be lyrically abstract, I find that section pretty damn relevant right now.

No tears. There are only a handful of musicians I would say rocked my ****ing face off--this guy was one of them.

    R.I.P. Chris Cornell.

I'm sure we'll find out at some point if it was accidental or not.

I believe that line was written for the late Jeff Buckley. He and Cornell were friends.

    WTF.....

I was in KC for a soccer tournament this past weekend. Was getting some stuff out of the car and I hear what I think is a live version of a Soundgarden song in the distance. I'm thinking, "What the hell, that's odd, someone playing such a Soundgarden song". But it only lasted for a brief moment. "Wait a minute, going to check their tour dates". Sure enough, they're playing the Starlight Theatre just a short distance away, and what I heard was obviously a soundcheck. I was like "Wow what a coincidence, one of my all-time fav bands less than a mile away".

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go that night and haven't been following their spring tour with the exception of knowing they were playing Rocklahoma this year.

I have a really hard time believing he committed suicide. The man appeared to be happy for years now, has young kids and a beautiful wife. He seemed so grounded and content.

Now, we don't get the Soundgarden album they were working on, or the TOTD stuff he talked about earlier this year, or any more solo material......

Can't fathom this. This is a bullshit reality we're living in. Don't let this be true. Come on, Chris. ****.

That section takes on a more personal meaning for me right now. I woke up in a daze to find out one of my favorite musicians died; I immediately thought back to my youth and all my Soundgarden memories; he no longer has to live in this chaotic world, but there won't be another one like him.

The lyrics fit the way I feel about this to a T.

I read something else that called it a "band" around his neck.

Like I said, can't imagine Chris killing himself. Anything's possible, but I can't see him doing it.

Autoerotic asphyx or suicide.....I don't like the options here!

I was just listening to Audioslave on XM over the weekend and thinking about how much I always liked his voice. Badmotorfinger is one of my all-time favorite CD's. Weird.
