I remember walking up to one of the concession stands offering drinks and asked the female attendant if she had anything "piping hot" and and she was bemused.

Southern Hills has hosted the PGA 4 times, more than any other course.

But carry on with your false narrative.

I think he's just saying it has been a while since they last held a major, which it has. 2007 I think.

i followed couples and david edwards in the first round (i think) in '94. they were both playing like shit. on the tee of one par 4, edwards teed his ball and was waiting for the group in front to clear. after a minute or so, and for some unknown reason, couples tires of waiting, tees his ball on the other side of david's (so david's ball is closer to his stance), and rips it down the fairway. david just chuckles. no idea who had the honor or wtf was the deal. maybe the heat got to both of them.

    Always smooth

I volunteered in 2007 so I was out there 4 or 5 days. Fortunately I had a pretty sweet gig so I didn't get totally fried.

I decided in 07 if I was going to be out there then I might as well be playing.
So we left and went to Southlakes. Played 18 and Had some beers. Whole time the pro's were flying out one by one in their jets from RL Jones.

As many people that give a shit that you wasted 5 hours following Daly when you could have been taking in a whole variety of players.

I stood right behind Daly on one tee box. That was enough "grip it and rip it" for me.

Stinker manned the glory hole while he was up there.

IIRC, the membership gets pissy about hosting majors because it shuts the course down for weeks in advance, and then it's pretty well destroyed aftewards.

I remember the '77 PGA at Southern Hills like it was yesterday.

I guess hanging around this board for years and you'll turn into an old **** (if you're lucky).

In 1970 Dave Stockton won the PGA at Southern Hills and Arnold Palmer was runner up.

I have a hat from the 2001 US Open.

I'd like to research it, but was that the year that they named a hole or series of holes after Arnie had a meltdown of sorts? Was it 12 and a run in with a tree there? I think it cost him the tournament...

    HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice. I was there on Friday when Tiger was at his best. Hot as shit too. The Wanamaker tent went apeshit when he missed the put.

    Man, how have things changed.

Also, outside of California I guess the US Open won't go south of the Mason Dixon line now. They'll literally play on a gravel pit before they go south.

After the third round in 1970, a disgruntled but still polite Billy Casper asked me why I wasn't trying to get one of the good golfers' autographs.

Dave Hill was the biggest jerk on the course, in those days.

I've got one of Eldrick's Nike practice balls from '01. I also stood near the 17th tee on Sunday when that he walked by. Surprisingly there weren't many folks on the tee, they were lining the fairways. I was going to say something to the guy but he was staring straight ahead. That dude could zone out in his prime.
    Amazing.
