I would take either one, all are gamers. Josh won us our last one - who wouldn't want him. Jamelle was a beast in the offense we ran at the time. Baker - well he is pretty amazing as we all know. How about we have all three to trot out there and really **** with the other team!

Put all three of 'em in the 'bone! Jammin' at QB, Heup at fullback -- backer at half. Landry Jones at the other spot.

  14. #14
    Are we running the 'bone?

  15. #15
Honest answer -- I'd take Bake over Heup. Bake is more athletic and has a better arm. Both are superb leaders.

Jamelle is too different to compare in this way. It would depend on the personnel around them. No point in sending Hollywood out on a rout if you are running the 'bone.

How come Steve Davis doesn't get any love? He won two natties.

You can add Bradford & White on that list, the answer will still be Baker.

Baker would have sucked in 2000. He was only like 5 years old.

    This day and age...BAKER!

Holieway in the '88 Orange Bowl, godamitohell.

Get me that time machine, and I'll go back and take Holieway out of the '87 Poke game 1 play earlier and thus avoiding the knee injury. Then we beat the Canes in the OB for the title.

While returning to present time*, I'll stop by the '08 big12 CCG and hide DeMarco Murray's helmet right before KO and force someone else to return that kick. Then we beat the Gators for the title.

This year, it's Baker Mayfield by a mile (my time machine is in the shop, so I can't peek ahead).

*the 80's were awesome and I was young, so why would I return?

I mean how can you not want a guy like Baker Mayfield. He is an incredible athlete with great accuracy and elite decision making. To top it off, he loves his school and he has heart the size of a mountain. Last, he is so passionate that he ignited his team around. He is the ideal player that every school would want. I wish OSU had a guy like him but he might be a once in a life time type player.

Heupel is too fat and out of shape, elbow is spaghetti
    Baker is the man
Holliway is too damn old to play and spends too much time in jail to practice

    So Baker

In any offense other than the wish-bone....you have to go with Baker. No disrespect to the others, but Baker has a live arm, is uber accurate, and has great touch on deep balls. In addition, he can extend plays better than any passing QB in the history of this program (as far as my memory goes back at least). To top it off, he has better than average speed and much better than average running ability for a pocket passer. I mean, the guy is just so well rounded as a QB. Then...maybe the best attributes ever..his will to win and his ability to motivate his teammates are as good as I've ever seen.

Baker has the best chance to be successful in any era or anyoffense you put him in.

He's also clutch and gives no ****s

    Josh in 2000.

    Jamelle in 1985.

Baker in 2017 (the best QB I have seen at OU in my time for the many reasons already stated above).

I'll say one thing for Landry Jones, he was a tough dude. He could take a hit, but I'm kinda partial because I'm kin to him.

Not Holieway, because he generally struggled against good defenses. Fortunately, he didn’t have to play against too many of them. The title game against Penn State was the biggest exception. On the long pass to Jackson, it looked like he just threw it as far as he could and it fell right in Jackson’s hands. Penn State had played tough early in the game, but never seemed to recover from that play. It reminded me of the 86 yard TE reverse to Jackson against Nebraska. Nebraska’s players were looking around like what the hell just happened? Like Penn State, they’d started off pretty well, but seemed to lose their composure after that play.

This is the thing, he pretty much IS a once-in-a-lifetime player AND no major D-1 schools knew it. Luckily for us, he grew up a Sooner fan and will represent OU when he goes on to win the Heisman on Saturday. His is really a fairy-tale story, for sure.

    All three are/were money.

But you gotta go with Baker, simply because he brings the most tools to the job site.

Steve Davis was the right QB for the wishbone offense but he also had a wealth of talent around him to help bring home those back-to-back Championships.

P.S. I am taking nothing away from him because I remember how well he played. Good QB and a good hearted man.
