We're ****ed.
We're ****ed.
I'm going to get this thread started off right. Here's some predictions that will occur before the time the granting of rights is up in six years:
*clears throat*
1. David Boren will not be the OU president.
2. Joe Castigliondsfjisljfe will not be the AD.
3. Bob Stoops will not be the head coach.
4. OU will have missed out on a BCS national championship game despite the fact they have an undefeated record.
You've heard of a sunshine pumper. I'm a darkness pumper.

I can't believe the realignment thread has been locked, it was the one constant during this whole mess . It will be missed.

I'm probably oblivious but how important is TV revenue? I mean sure more money is better and we'd obviously like more but championships is what we play football for. If TCU can stay competitive and brings quality competition to our schedule wouldn't that be a success? Conference perception and football strength is far more important than tv sets.
So, Nuked finally put a stake through the heart of the Re-alignment thread...
I agree with The. We're ****ed.
Actually, we ****ed ourselves by not getting out when we had the chance. Truly ****ed.
Maybe 20 years from now, if this conference still exists in some fashion, and OU/Tex are still members....OU/Tex will be relegated to the coveted Friday night slot on ESPN6...and they will show old grainy footage of the glory years of the rivalry, and wistfully state that once upon a time, the winner of the game had conference and national championship aspirations....
When the Big 12 first started Pat Sullivan was leading TCU to 4-7 and 1-10 seasons in the mighty WAC conference. Imagine if they joined the Big 12 at this time instead of Baylor. Can you say WORSE THAN BAYLOR!
And that's pretty damn bad. Also look at TCU basketball. They've only made the NCAA Tournament 2 times since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985. Thanks to Billy Tubbs for one of those. That's 3 NCAA tournament games in 26 years. And they've been in the SWC, WAC, CUSA, and MWC in those years. You would think with Texas recruiting they would be better than that in those conferences. Even some of the average tier Texas talent would win more games than that.
Good coaching can only take you so far in a conference like this. Heck Oklahoma State still only has 1 win against Texas and OU under Gundy and 3 total since Les Miles took over in 2001. Do you think TCU is really going to be as good as OSU in the conference?
TCU is flat out a horrific addition.
We ****ed ourselves along time ago when we pretty much lobbied for Dan Beebe to be hired

TCU's all-time record against teams currently in the Big 12 is 158-224-24.

1. Most likely, as he's 70 years old. By the time he's 76, he'll likely want to move on
2. Also likely, because it may very well be that he's the next conference commissioner.
3. Potentially, because at that point, he'd be in his 19th season as head coach, and 56 years old. He's made it very clear that he doesn't want to be around forever. His current contract extension makes this somewhat unlikely, though.
4. The one-loss seasons are the bigger defeat.
I think there might be a chance if an Ohio State calls out with more money and more conference stability Bob could be gone after this year.
I wanna go to the SEC , so we can become Arkansas Part Deaux .
Geee, I could only wish, that we could be like Arkansas .
WOW !!!
Arkansas part deaux? This conference is going to be Notre Dame in a MACROcosm.
Byrk is prolly dead after hearing about this. Slit wrists.

I still don't see the issue. We play 1 or 2 good non-confrence teams and a ****ty conference schedule we will not be left out of the MNC game if we win out.
What's wrong with the monstrosity of a thread that already exists?
Hey ................. uhhhhh , Big 12 has how many ranked teams at the moment ???
Whats the problem here ?????
Snyder is bringing KSU back. You can bet against that old man, you won't get me to put my money against him.
TCU in the Big 12 .... ya know, they've been playing purty gud football without being Big 12 members. This can only help them.
And what the **** has A&M done in the last 10 years, that makes them such great competition .............. 77 - 0 with four minutes left in the third qtr ..............
Same for CU, those hippies up there have not cared bout playing good football in 15 years. They will not support that program, Denver is pro town.
Nebraska has always had a recrootin problem , always. That's why Tom got out, he saw the writing on the wall when he could not fill the roster with Prop 48 players who could not get in anywhere else. And this is why Tom wants the Big 10, the level of athlete in that conference is much lower than the Big 12.
Hey, am I the only realist here ???
The conference is better today than five years ago.

We need to take home 8 this year so residual respect will help in years to come when our conference schedule is crap.
