Yep. Battier would give great defense off the bench and a decent shot as well. Could get him for the same price as Daequan Cook.
When is the first game?
from the news last night it might be the 26th
That's what I heard earlier, Christmas day the official first day of the season
Most likely. All we know is that 3 games will be played on Christmas, the season will go from there. Most likely everyone, with the exception of the six teams playing Christmas, will play on December 26th.
The 66-game season will include 48 conference games, down from 52 last season. With only 18 games against teams from the other conference, teams will not visit every NBA city.
Teams will play about two more games per month, and each team will play on three straight nights at least once, but no more than three times.
Just some stuff been reported about the schedule.
Is the new salary cap structure going to hurt the OKC Thunder? It seems as such.
Random thought...it's gonna be really frustrating if we don't get any meaningful minutes out of any of our draft picks of the last 3 years sans Harden (Aldrich, Mullens, Reggie). We better have an exit plan for Mullens if he doesn't have any newfound skills this season. I'm sick of watching these players sit on the bench or fester in the D-league.
Excited to see Reggie though.
i forgot who the thunder even drafted
I look for Alrich to get some burn this year and take minutes away from Nazr.
I can't remember, did Cook get a new deal before the lockout, or is he still unsigned?
Cook is a restricted free agent. The Thunder made a qualifying offer before the lockout. If there is no interest from any other team Cook will sign an extension with the agreed upon percentage raise, I can't remember what that is but its a nice little bump. If there is interest from other teams, Cook can sign their offer sheet and then the Thunder will have three days to either match that offer or let him go.
If somebody makes him a big offer there is no way the Thunder could match, but I think that is unlikely and the Thunder will match any reasonable offer.
OKC front office ready to reward Westbrook with max or near-max contract.
RT @ChrisMannixSI The Thunder understand that Russell Westbrook is probably a max or close to max contract guy and, I'm told, won't hesitate to give him one.
RT @ChrisMannixSI Despite criticism during the '11 playoffs, the organization still has a strong belief in Westbrook
Mannix has a pretty good relationship with somebody in the front office. When he reports something about the Thunder it is usually pretty accurate.
I said that presti said that about RW back in June. I like how it's being repeated.
I would love to keep this squad together.
With them signing Russ to a max contract, it seems as if it will come down to having to choose between Ibaka/Harden on who you able to keep around after next year. I would hate to see either one of those guys go down the road.

The NBA has added two games to the Christmas opener. One more ESPN and one TNT game. Hopefully the Thunder gets one of the slots, preferably on TNT.
RT @Chris_Broussard: Boston offered Rondo & Jeff Green to OKC for Westbrook & KPerkins after last season's playoffs. OKC was not interested.

Almost everyone that I've discussed this with, is in the same boat. Ibaka is a difference maker when it comes to interior defense. I would hate to lose Harden, but everythign points to Reggie Jackson being the guy to replace Hardens scoring. (Its hard to say, since the guy hasnt even stepped on the court...but, he's a Russell Westbrook clone......Without the blazing speed)
You gotta give it up to Danny though. The man is not afraid of rejection and he will probably find somebody to overpay for Rondo.
If only the Hornets were dumb enough to do a sign and trade for Paul and some picks for Westbrook. I love Westbrook and his potential, but Paul, KD, Harden, Ibaka, and Perk would be a dynasty. I'm talking lots of banners hanging in the arena formally known as the Ford Center.
Preseason schedule is set.
Dec 18 - 6:30 p.m. AT Dallas
Dec 20 - 7:00 p.m. vs. Dallas
Lot of rumblings about Battier to OKC. Let's make it happen Presti.

A very significant portion of NBA draft picks never amount to anything. The top 10 picks are typically the players that see significant playing time, plus a few diamond in the rough players that come out in the late first round. As sad as it is to say, once a team is established, trades and free agent signings are what help the team. Draft picks become almost meaningless bc a team with a winning record is not going to get a high pick unless they traded for it, and youre not very likely to find difference makers with the 23rd or 24th pick.
And now the news that the Thunder are working on a buyout with Nate Robinson. Clearing money and a roster spot. I really think Presti is going to go get Battier.

I like Battier, but how much value does he bring outside of being a veteran guy who can help instruct the team?
Great video from The Basketball Jones guys telling OKC people the teams moving back to Seattle...any of you the yellow shirt chick in this video?
Battier is one of the best off the ball defenders in the league.
I think we save the amnesty. We don't have to use it this year. Only half of the salary would be on our cap, so that extra 2.25 could go a long way to getting Battier. Battier still can guard 3 positions effectively, and he can score a little bit, much more so than Thabo. And a huge plus is that Battier wouldn't get to guard KD anymore except for practice.
For the record, with the new bird agreements, we can sign Ibaka and Harden, along with giving RW a max extension
