But Battier wont crack the starting lineup, and we don't need defense in our 2nd unit...we need scoring.
With Battier, the Thunder wouldn't have to have a traditional bench. I bet Brooks is going to use a San Antonio type system where 2 of 3 of Durant, Harden, and Westbrook are on the floor at all times. That gives us two scorers on the floor all the time. Battier can score well enough. Having a guy that can guard 3 positions well is such an ****et.
Looks like the Thunder are going to get a Christmas Day game at home against the Magic. Good way to start the year.
Wow, check out the Thunder website. The players are back. I am pumped for the season to start.
So are we getting Battier?...
No one's really talking about it, but I'm really eager to see the toned up Perk. We're all praying for better ball-handling skills, speed, and ability to finish at the rim. Who we see this season SHOULD be a different player.
Ha...interesting, I checked on Thursday and they weren't up yet. I figured they wouldn't be back on there until the CBA was signed.
This +1000. I, admittedly, am a Perk homer, but I am excited to see what the Thunder will look like with him healthy. Last year, he was basically playing on one leg, and he couldn't practice or workout because of his knee, so he wasn't in playing shape either. Even with Perk at 50%, he made the defense much better and brought out the swagger in KD and Russ. He is never going to fill up the stat sheet, but he brings such much to the table (defense, championship experience, leadership, toughness, heart, and ect.) Boston is a basketball town, so you know that Perk must be special when Bostonians were sincerely pissed when he got traded (and I don't think that they were pissed about losing the 8 points and 9 rebounds). I got so tired of watching the Thunder throw out Green and Kristic at the 4 and 5. They were so soft. The frontline of Ibaka and Perkins has so much more potential defensively.
ocugolf, are you a current student? Just listened to KD's interview at the new practice facility and he said "I've been in town the past month month and a half just working out at Oklahoma City University." Any KD sightings at Freede? Freede is becoming big leagues with KD hanging around.
Damn, did you guys see this? I certainly hope the Thunder is not one of the seven.

One league official says there are seven NBA teams that have two stretches of 5 games in 6 nights this season. Good luck with that.

ESPN and Chris Boussard site sources that say the Lakers are interested in both Paul and Howard. Apparently only Kobe is off the table.
I saw him at Freede a couple times. I played golf there. I am still close the the coach and players, so I go up up to campus every now and then. KD was up at OCU last night watching the SNU-OCU game apparently. While I was at OCU, we had the McDonald's all-american game practice in Freede. We had workouts right after their practice, and Dwight Howard gave me his shoes (really nice guy). It's a shame how much OCU basketball has fallen. In the late 80s, OCU was Division 1 and played Butler, ORU, Oakland, and lots of others at a pretty packed Fredrickson Fieldhouse. Now, OCU plays hacks with 500 people there at best.
OKC will play at Memphis on December 28th and host Phoenix on New Year's eve.

Thunder will play the #grizzlies 4 times, Dec 28, Jan 10, Feb 3, and Apr 2nd.
Schedule looks a lot like Last year. Played the Grizz near Jan 10th and Feb 3rd..
Thunder play divisonal opponents #Jazz 3 times (2 road, 1 home) #Nuggets (2 home, 1 road) #twolves (1 home, 2 road) #blazers (2 home 1 road)
Thunder will travel to Los Angeles to play the Lakers twice. will host them once.

If you all want to get bored. Wrote something. Evolution of James Harden. http://wp.me/p1yP68-8g
Celtics and Lakers here on back to back nights in February to finish 5 game home stand in 7 nights. Wow. You're not kidding about not getting any rest with this schedule.
Nice. I didn't know KD hung around OCU so much. It really is a shame about OCU's bball. The women's team was on a ferocious run of 4 straight titles when I started. Men's squad won the title while I was there, but from what I've heard they haven't been to that level since. I miss Fredrickson. The atmosphere at Freede during games just sucks. And it's not just because it's a performing arts school...just a horrible venue for games.
OCU won't be going D-1 again while Jim Abbott is AD.
I like your article. I see Harden getting better on defense. But I don't mind him surviving as a spot up shooter. Several guys like Doc Rivers and Chris Mullin made a nice career out of being a spot up shooter. He showed in the playoffs that the team is better when he is on the floor bc he adds a very important element to the offense.
Can't discount how much he has already improved. I was in Phoenix for a work conference last year and the Thunder happened to be in town while I was there, so I went to check out the Thunder play at the Am West Arena. I had a good chat with the Suns fans. They said as long as I wasn't a Lakers fan, I was welcome there. Plus, when I was a kid, Barkley and the Suns were my favorite team, so I knew their history very well.
Anyways, they spoke a lot about James Harden. They were ASU alums and said they were surprised at how well Harden had developed and that he was a much better pure shooter in the NBA than he had been in college. They also talked about how low key and humble he was. Said he had a reputation as a team first guy and the Thunder were lucky to have him

Yo Chuck, what is the story behind Perk and Nate being the only 2 players to not have shown up to camp as of yet? I can see Nate, but why Perk? Is training camp voluntary?... If it is, you would think Perk should be the main one in camp anyway trying to get back to form... I'll take your answer off the air...
Ah, here we are. Not sure how I missed this thread!!!! Hello Chuck!
Big year for Perk. Should be healthy![]()
As I said earlier.. Nate Robinson will not report to the OKC thunder

Wow... So we'll just release him?...
Yep. He may not even get picked up. he wont sign anything above a $2 mil contract. He's basically terrell owens without the talent. He's a publicity risk (Him getting arrested this summer for being an idiot) to his play on the court (career 111 defensive rating). He shouldn't even be in the league.
If you guys watch some of the video on the team's website of the new practice facility and then go to ESPN.com and watch some of the training camp videos from other teams you'll see how above and beyond our facility is compared to the other squads. The Heat and Hornets both have ratty gyms compared to OKC's new facility.
can't wait for the season to start - its gonna be crazy with the games packed in so close together but my wife will evantually get used to missing some of her shows
someone embed this for me please. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dI6H...ure=socblog_th
I know they don't play defense in these games but good LORD if he perfects that fade away, he is going to be ridiculous this year!!
This is Insider from Hollinger (sshhh) handicapping the Billups sweepstakes. Hollinger makes the Thunder the favorite to get Chauncey if they so desire. Chauncey would be an excellent addition to the Thunder for an excellent price thanks to Knicks and their wonderful cap management.
1. Oklahoma City Thunder
And now we're down to the team that could really use Billups and have the money free and clear. Oklahoma City still has $2.8 million in cap room, a number that could go up if they (a) cut Royal Ivey and his $1.2 million, (b) reach a buyout agreement with Nate Robinson to lessen his $4 million cap hit, or (c) use their amnesty tag on Robinson.
The thought of Billups with this team has to have Thunder GM Sam Presti rubbing his hands diabolically. Not only would Billups' savvy be an incredible teaching tool for the Thunder's kids, but he's exactly the kind of efficient deep shooter they need to space the floor for their dynamic athletes. Although it would stymie the progress of Eric Maynor and Reggie Jackson a bit, the Thunder are probably ready to make this type of move. The West is theirs for the taking, and Billups can help get them there.
