Stella in midtown is my favie. And there used to be an Italian place in Marlow (randomly) that was pretty yummy, but I'm not sure it's still there.

Olive Garden... SUCKS! Seriously, $10 for all you can eat salad and bread? That cost them about $4.. if if you are going in thinking oh, Ill just have a salad.. then the fatty ends up eating 20 breadsticks.

Since we're talking about I-Talian food it's time for my obligatory Dalesandro's plug. If you're a Tulsan or ever in Tulsa you should try it. On Friday & Saturday nights they have swordfish picatta and it is tremendous

if i wanted terribly microwaved "Italian food" I could pop a stoffers tv dinner in at home. To complete the experience I even have a few candles around the house I could light. We typically go to Zios or Primo's if we want Italian style food.

I have a David Cross CD,
he mentions being in the south somewhere and they had a new Italian restaurant. He asked if it was good, and some redneck says, "Eh, it ain't no Olive Garden..."

I like Sophabella's and Papa Dio's for local Italian, Mac Grill for chain Italian.

This. I like the Olive Garden. But I don't pretend like it's some kind of Italian cuisine. It's dumbed down semi-fast food that derives most of its tasty from being unhealthy.

How is OG bland and unimaginative? Sure their endless pasta bowls are bland and unimaginative, but their main dishes are good and their monthly special is usually pretty imaginative.

Me either. Always friendly and good service

And LOL at dissing OG while pimping mac grill.
I'm guessing most people in this thread are dissing it b/c it is a chain and the "hip" thing to do. But in reality, if you did a blind taste test, they would like the food

Haven't eaten there in 2 yrs or so. May have gone down hill? All i know is that the jalapeno tiliapa was awesome, and loved dipping the bread in the garlic/herb infused olive oil.

Yes Ti Amo's is pretty good. Good locally owned restaurant. I used to eat there all the time when they were off 21st and Memorial. I don't think I have ever been to the new location.

Dude... that jalapeno tilapia is one of the best meals on the planet. I swapped the fish for grilled chicken once and it was almost as good. Love that ****!

The now-famous Olive Garden reviewer was a quick-fire judge on Top Chef a couple of weeks ago.

    http://eater.com/uploads/tcseattle0601.jpg

This week's Quickfire guest judge is Internet-famous and Real Life-old food columnist Marilyn Hagerty. Though she's been writing for the Grand Forks Herald for over half a century, no one paid any attention to her until she wrote a review last year of a new local Olive Garden. She liked it, and that made ****holes who read blogs in big cities go bananas.

If you are eating excellent Italian food in the MidWest, you are in St. Louis. There are so many good Italian restaurants especially on the Hill, you can't go wrong. If you go there if they are having the NCAA wrestling meet again eat nothing but Italian food for the entire stay and you won't have to go to a chain outfit in that town.

Giuseppe's in Marlow, Oklahoma of all places has excellent Italian food. Or at least it did a few years ago when I ate there. It's in what used to be a bank. Cool atmosphere. I was blown away by how good my meal was.

The owner has started a new thing in the last year or two called the Broom Closet. It's reservation only, special menu, and you have the room for you and your friends for the evening. There's a secret entrance to the room--it's a very cool thing to do with friends. The owner is a really cool guy that likes doing stuff like that that are fun. He's wanting to open up an underground restaurant at some point--he said he'd like to have a phone booth in a parking lot or something that's an elevator that would be your access point.
