Will Dorrell texts (texts to Dorrell from BP's phone) be available for public viewing?
Arkansas fans are bipolar with a huge amount of insecurity thrown in for good measure. They simultaneously think they have a great team/program yet meanwhile they won't beat another good team/program. They're also insecure to the point they were desperate to keep Petrino because they think they can't do better.
Bipolar + insecurity = entertainment

On the station I was listening to yesterday the consensus from the callers was that Petrino needed to be fired.
The hosts were saying that Garrick McGee might be the best option at this juncture to salvage the season, although he never would have been hired under normal circumstances. They also mentioned Chris Peterson, Gary Patterson, Art Briles, Gus Malzahn and Butch Davis. Butch Davis is currently a consultant for an NFL team, meaning he's available. I doubt that either Peterson, Patterson, or Briles would bail at this point in the year. I figure Gus Malzahn would, if given the chance.

News to start off the morning.Confirmed w/agent: Bobby Petrino will not appeal his termination at the University of Arkansas. The woman at the heart of the Bobby Petrino scandal has been put on administrative leave from her job as University of Arkansas student-athlete development coordinator, said Razorbacks spokesman Steve Voorhies.
It depends. If she sent them from a cell phone issued by the university, then it's public record. Only the dirty pics could be withheld. Otherwise, they'd likely have to have been on the phone when Petrino turned it in, and the odds of that being the case are about zero.
these texts are clearly screenshots from Petrino's phone. I ****ume he had to turn his phone back into the university and someone got to work on screenshotting all of that. Couldnt he have just deleted everything? Its not like the cell phone company sent records of what he said.
Im guessing any messages/photos he sent to/received from Dorrell were deleted on April 2, if not earlier.
wow on that PDF with the texts. Do administrators and higher ups all text now days instead of calling? Kinda weird.
The most troubling thing about this whole mess is Petrinos use of exclamation marks! Makes me uncomfortable lol
Adding !!! after texts make you look like a little girl, not a football coach

Jessica Dorrell has now been placed on paid leave. Her salary is $55k. That's damn good coin for a 25-year old ... especially in Arky.

Petrino hired this girl over someone who had Nick Saban, Les Miles, Jimbo Fisher, Will Muschamp, and Derek Dooley as references:
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2...sas_hired.html
Benjamin Wilkerson, was also interviewed for the position but did not receive Petrino's endorsement because, in Petrino's words, he did not have "as much experience as other candidates for this particular position."
Wilkerson played football at LSU, starting on the offensive line for four seasons and helping the Tigers to win two SEC Championships and a BCS National Championship under head coach Nick Saban. Later Wilkinson played for four seasons in the NFL, including one season under Bobby Petrino with the Atlanta Falcons.
Among Wilkerson's list of references were Saban, LSU head coach Les Miles, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, Florida head coach Will Muschamp and Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley.
Obviously.he did not have "as much experience as other candidates for this particular position."
****ing hell. There are so many girls from my high school that went to a regional school in OKC so they could party at OU, only to drop out and do hair and "model."
The term "model" is so loaded. Any girl can have a photographer interested in them and they are suddenly a "model."

Jeff Long's termination letter to Petrino http://www.documentcloud.org/documen...on-letter.html
^ I can feel how pissed off Long while he was dictating that **** lol
An Acura.
Jeez.
**** should have held out for a Benz. Or something of similar value.
Is there anything more hollow than the "wish nothing but the best in the future" line from less than amicable departures?
Other candidates included:
• Former Kentucky and Oregon director of football operations Steve Hellyer, who had the most practical experience of anyone who applied for the job.
• Mark Ouimet, who held similar positions at Mississippi State and Michigan.
• Josh Lee, the former director of football operations at UAB, whose references include Georgia coach Mark Richt and Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.
• Maggy Carlyle, who, while inexperienced in college football recruiting, has a wealth of complementary experience working for the San Francisco 49ers, the Pac-12, the NFL and the University of Missouri. (She also has a law degree from Missouri.)
• LaRon Black, a former Southland Conference ****ociate commissioner (compliance) who spent several years at Prairie View A&M helping the school clean up an NCAA mess.
• Christianne Harder, a Cal grad who has worked in the recruiting offices at Stanford and Washington and who currently consults for Western Kentucky's football program.
• Zaneta Ivy, a former Memphis track athlete who received her master's at Arkansas and who has worked in the student-athlete academic advising departments at Arkansas, Utah and Florida International.
That list is by no means a complete accounting of the qualified candidates, but as you can see, Petrino had legitimate options. And some of those who applied are mad. Ivy, currently an academic coordinator at FIU, believes the hiring of Dorrell will set back women who hope to break into traditionally male-dominated sports fields.
"That's one of the barriers I'm trying to break down," Ivy said. "You don't have to sleep your way to the top. There are a lot of women who know their jobs, who do their jobs well and who just want to help the kids."
Unfortunately for Ivy, Petrino let a body part besides his brain choose who got the job. That's why Petrino is unemployed, and that's why women such as Ivy now face an even steeper climb.

At this point, it seems to me that Arkansas is saturating the public with information in an attempt to ensure Bobby Petrino is not coaching against them from somewhere else in the SEC in 2013. Long is a shrewd dude.
That may be part of it, but I think the bigger reason is to show everyone just how deceitful Petrino really was. Petrino embarrassed Long and Arkansas and I think Petrino is getting a taste of his own medicine. To be sure, the extent of Petrino's lies and deceptions are far greater than was initially known. I think the bigger reason is to justify Long's decision to fire Petrino for cause. Here, there is a letter outlining all of the reasons for cause from the university's point of view, which I guarantee you was reviwed by Arkansas legal counsel. I think Arkansas is really try to wash their hands of this entire situation and stay clean going forward. Honestly, I did not think Arkansas would have the balls or courage to fire Petrino. I'm glad they did.
Given that it is tax season, can we expect both Jessica Dorrell and BP to amend their tax returns to reflect this "gift"?
She does not have to amend her tax return to show the gift. Since the gift was over $13,000 in a given year, the donor must count the gift against the lifetime exemption to any individual, but the donee need not report the gift for income tax purposes. I imagine Petrino will not be gifting anything more to Dorrell and, therefore, no federal income tax liability is due.
The only gray area is if the IRS views this as compensation masked as a gift that should otherwise have been taxable, but I don't think that is likely.

Tommy Penders was on the Finebaum show this after, a surprisingly excellent guest, but he made a good point about the cell phone - where was the compliance officer? They are supposed to monitor cell phone activities between coaches and potential recruits--PARTICULARLY with university owned cell phones. If the head coach is exchanging 84 texts within a couple of hours with one phone number, wouldn't that raise a red flag with the compliance office? Wouldn't he investigate and say, "Hey, this better not be a recruit or our ****es are on the line." I doubt the officer could (or should) accept "Oh, don't worry, that's my wife's new cell phone number, I, Bobby Petrino, just LOVE texting my wife 84 times in one day." If Petrino was honest about whom he sending all those texts to, wouldn't the compliance officer then have to whisper to someone once Dorrell applied for the development position? Either the compliance officer was not tracking cell phone usage, or he was gullible and bought Petrino's lies about whom the texts were for, or he knew, and did nothing when a potential legal scandal would erupt when Petrino hires his mistress.
Or, everyone knew (including Long), and they just kept their mouths shut and did nothing until it became a national disgrace. If Petrino didn't wreck his motorcycle, the UA would have gotten away with employing the head coach's mistress simply BECAUSE she was his mistress. That's crappy oversight, whether legal or NCAA related.
Quote of the day from my Arkansas alumni roommate who adored Petrino before this. "I always thought Bobby sucked". Oh Arkie fans.
Compliance officers at most campuses are only responsible for helping the university avoid NCAA rules violations. All Petrino would have to do is verify that the number didn't belong to a recruit or a recruit's family member. Now we're clear of NCAA liability. That's pretty much where compliance stops. That said, most compliance officers aren't also labor relations experts (not that you'd need an expert on this one) or human resources personnel. Penders should know better than anyone that not every university has a compliance office like the one we have at OU. Ours is kept with university general counsel and is staffed with actual attorneys. As you are no doubt aware, the NCAA rules are a set of regulations and policies so internally inconsistent and contradictory that it would make the people who wrote the US Tax Code blush. Expecting an average compliance officer to cover this kind of issue is asking WAY too much of the compliance office. Also, if I'd heard that show, I'd have called in and told Penders to get serious. This is an SEC program, not Notre Dame. The compliance office is intentionally limited to prevent them from being too good at their job to keep Arky from being able to compete.
That last part though (everyone knew, no one cared) is unlikely IMO. If they knew and did nothing prior to this, Petrino would've had grounds to challenge his firing as the grounds of his termination would be vitiated by the previous tolerance of the administration for the affair, and their obvious constructive knowledge of Petrino's blatantly illegal hiring of Dorrell. In other words, if they knew and let it slide, they'd have owed Petrino about 18 million dollars.
Hey, this is fun. There will be more, and I'll keep following each sordid Hog development. But please posters.... warn us if we are about to look at a text photo of Petrino's ****. Thank you.
Both Scout and Rivals say that Arkansas has 0 (zero) recruits committed for 2013. If they go with an interim HC this year--and they have little choice--recruiting will really suck. Good timing, Bobby. And thank you.
I was going to ask what do we think Petrino's wife will do in all this? She's the one we don't here about. Also, while researching his marital status, I see he was a QB coach under Mike Price at Weber State.
55K is OK not a fortune, if you have J.D. and are fighting for 55k, you are floundering, you'll never repay your student loans.
