Tackles in the 300-320 range. Linebackers in the 230-250 range. I don't care how quick u are. Unless your Gerald Kelly, your quickness will be nullified by your lack of strength at the point of contact.
If we recruited like that we would get run off the field in conference play. At least at the LB position.

How did ND do against our spread offense?
You run a nickel package but you got to be big in the front 6 to control gaps. Also size and strength can push pockets and create seams for blitzers to get pressure on QB. You go small and quick with the back 5 for the most part

Stanford seemed to do a pretty decent job shutting down Oregon with some pretty big LB's. At least with bigger LB's we should be able to do a better job shutting down the run and make the other team one dimensional.

Stanford is bigger, tougher and tackles better than OU. Overall the Cardinal are not an elite team because of their offense.
But their big tough guys shut down the speed of Oregon. OU shut down nobody's speed.

Exactly my point. If we recruit bigger at those positions we might become a more physical defense that can tackle well and still be able to shut down a spread offense. It is possible. I don't think just because you're bigger up front means you cannot defend a spread attack.
