I'm a charcoal gal and on Sundays I usually grill chicken, burgers, Italian sausage and hotdogs then we kind of eat what ever all week ...makes quick and easy for the kid and to throw with a salad or in a soup today I also grilled some nice thick center cut pork chops which we ate tonight

This is one of your few food comments that actually sounds appetizing. I believe that is because you didn't talk about humus in it.

I'll post results in the dinner thread.

    Me dos!

Got some Kingsford mesquite. Gonna use a foil pack with mesquite chunks in there too, for good measure.

I have moved exclusively to lump (I do a mix of Royal Oak and Mesqite from one of the many fine Mexican carnecerias we have here in Houston)

I do miss the consistent production from briquettes...I have seen some of these that seem worth a shot:

    http://uncrate.com/p/2009/04/kingsford-competition-briquettes.jpg

I am a mid rare guy that needs an intense sear, and I get way hotter with lump, it seems.

ever tried an infrared...there are some hybrid Charcoal grills that have it...not sure how well they work in conjunction with some real wood.

Been marinating a 5 lb pork loin overnight, nothing like slow grilling a pig log.

I've been grilling bacon wrapped, cheddar stuffed cheeseburgers a few times this year already. I don't mind grilling in the dark.

That's good. If you didn't your grill season would be what, 3 hours long?

Forgive me, I did not fire up the grill today, but the OP mentioned burgers. I went to a place in Santa Cruz today called Burger. It's an upscale burger and sandwich place with lots of beers - 45 on tap, 50 in bottles, and 6 in cans. I didn't have a beer since I was the driver - but I did have a burger.

The menu had one called The Phatty, which was described as a cheeseburger with two grilled cheese sandwiches used as the buns. Then there was one described as a double phatty, given the name: The Kim Kardashian. I contemplated that.

And then there's a burger called The Snooki, which is a chili burger between two grilled cheeses. I know Snooki is that young lady from New Jersey, but I never watched her show - so I don't know if it's fitting.

It being my first time there, I went for just the basic burger. It has lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onion, and a mustard sauce of some sort. Very good -- except the meat really could have used a charcoal grill. Underseasoned and no sign of char/grill marks/sear.
