Picked up a major verbal for 2013 in LHP Chris Kohler

Chris Kohler LHP Los Osos HS, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Ht.: 6-3. Wt.: 195. B/T: L/L. Kohler is a long, loose lefthander with a great feel for his stuff. He comfortably throws his fastball in the upper 80s and can slide into the low 90s on occasion. His curveball works as his out pitch and he also uses his changeup off of his fastball. He throws all of his offerings for strikes in any count.

Was committed to S.Carolina WAY WAY back but committed to USC a year ago but stuff going on with their program so he visited out here for FAMU

I really enjoyed watching them last year and think they'll be in great shape to make a run in '13. Hope they get more support from fans.

Well that's a damn shame. Sounds like he wants to focus on playing catcher.

    Preseason #20

and we're going back to Louisville bats

The University of Oklahoma is one of the most storied programs in college baseball history, boasting two national championships, 10 College World Series appearances, 35 NCAA Tournament bids and 22 conference championships.

Now, after several years with another company, Oklahoma has signed a five-year agreement to swing BBCOR bats from Louisville Slugger, baseball's leading bat maker and the Number One Bat in Major League Baseball®.

"As we enter the 2013 season, we are extremely excited to be in partnership with Louisville Slugger," said OU Head Baseball Coach Sunny Golloway. "We had a lot of options; we chose Louisville Slugger."

The Sooners are expected to be an outstanding team once again in 2013. The University of Oklahoma baseball team enters the 2013 campaign ranked 14th in the nation, according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's Fabulous 40 Pre-Season Poll. The Sooners have their sights set on returning to Omaha. When they do, they'll be hitting line drives and home runs with the latest in bat innovation and technology; Louisville Slugger's two-piece composite ATTACK, the hybrid EXOGRID3 and the ST+20 alloy OMAHA BALANCED.

The 10th Annual Diamond Dinner is slated for Saturday, Jan. 26 as former University of Oklahoma baseball legends return to Norman to help the Sooners open the 2013 season.

The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Three-time All-American catcher Javier Flores (1994-97) will be honored at the event. A four-year letterwinner, Flores helped lead OU to the 1994 national title and the '95 NCAA College World Series.

Fans interested in attending can contact the Oklahoma baseball office at (405) 325-8354. Fans will not be permitted to attend without reserving a spot in advance.

Current Oklahoma players and coaches will also be in attendance to join the former OU greats for an autograph session.

The University of Oklahoma Home Run Club is once again the official presenter of the event. Those interested in joining the Oklahoma baseball team's official support group can do so at the banquet, or by contacting the Oklahoma baseball office, with a donation of $50 for an individual and $75 for a family.

Sooner Sports TV will produce 25 baseball games for live telecasts on FS Southwest or FS Oklahoma and FOX College Sports (FCS) with the remaining six available via webcast at SoonerSports.tv.

Coverage of the 19th-ranked Sooner baseball team begins with live webcasts of the four-game series versus Hofstra, starting Friday, Feb. 15. Television coverage on FS Oklahoma begins Tuesday, Feb. 19, when OU hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The Sooner Sports TV broadcast team includes Bruce Haertl and McKee as play-by-play announcers. Major League Baseball veteran Jay Payton will serve as the color analyst for 19 games with former Sooner Caleb Bushyhead and long-time broadcasters and former OU sports information director Mike Treps also appearing.
