Dalton has 0 stars on Rivals... I feel like anywhere in the Top 10 is an acceptable place to be for OU. Hope you're right.

Of course ranking aren't all that matters in recruiting. But look at Alabama. They've had the #1 cl**** for like 3 years straight and they have the championships to show for it. OU's recruiting has taken a dip in recent years and so has the product on the field. The occasional unknown kid is fine, but it seems like very kid on this board is now a 3 star or lower that doesn't have offers from other big schools.
And Texas had about 5 years in the Top 3 in recruiting while KState rarely pulls in top flight prospects. 3 of the current commits are rated 4*s by Rivals and OU is in the hunt for numerous other 4* and maybe even a few 5* prospects.
OU fans should be comparing ourselves to the best, not Kansas State.
Okay...talk me off the ledge too. I have not traditionaly followed recruiting all that much, but I do know our overall classes in the mid-2000s were pretty well ranked.
Adrian Peterson and Bomar were THE studs the year we got them (okay, so only 50% of that panned out).
I am following the process this year and Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas A&M, etc are picking up 4 star guys on a fairly routine basis.
Meanwhile, we are ranked among TCU, Baylor, VA Tech, etc. Not bad schools, but are we just not part of the elite football schools anymore?

15th last year. Pretty good considering three coaches were let go for subpar recruiting. 2014 standings are not particularly relevant this early.

Jesus people, outside of Alabama, what program on that list would you want to trade with? You want A&M's history of mediocrity, whose fall will match their meteoric rise once Sumlin leaves, if not before? The ND that hasn't accomplished anything since the 80s and was just embarrassed by Alabama in the title game?
OK, a few thoughts:
-Our coaches have a long history of good player evaluations and they do it better than recruiting sites.
-It's still very early and some kids haven't been fully evaluated. On signing day, you can whine about recruit rankings (don't).
-there are some sure fire studs (1%) and then there are quality FB players every cycle that can be great with coaching, hard work, development.
Most of the teams in the top 15-20 of recruit rankings have the talent to win a championship. It's what you do with it that separates good from great.

I'm not comparing OU with any other program. I just pointed out two ends of the recruiting rankings spectrum. Hell we can also look at Miami, typically a top 10 program in recruiting and what have they done lately?
Ostrich, please go be yourself and stick your head in the sand.
@LMMatadores 22m
Coaches from #OhioState and #Oklahoma will be at #LaMiradaFootball practice this Monday. #HPT #ForTheCity
In the last 5 seasons, Miami has an average cl**** ranking of 19.2 (according to Rivals).
Exactly.what have they done lately
You proved my point for me, moron. Cl**** rankings do have some bearing on the future success of a program.
I don't believe I'm the one with my head in the sand.Ostrich, please go be yourself and stick your head in the sand
It's rare if ever that you find a BCS champion that doesn't have a bunch of four stars on the team. Usually there's a few 5 stars as well.

As far as I am aware of, there were no online recruiting services in 98-99.
This is a post so this thread will go above the ****ing useless 12 y/o thread.

Coaches are still hard after Jermaine Roberts (closed thread, Texas commit). He said we're recruiting him the hardest right now, and apparently not pulling any punches. He's been told, by our coaches, that OU has more Thorpe winners, more BCS appearances, more NCG appearances, far more Big 12 titles, etc. Kid is getting the truth. Could be interesting to see if anything comes of this.

Posted this in his thread but Nathan Starks, Top 2 of ND and OU. USC dropped him
To be fair, I don't think USC is in a position to take any risk this season with their scholarships.
Kid i like, check the film

Not bad at all. My thoughts: too slow to play DE at the college level (no way he runs a 4.85), BUT he could develop into a serious DT if he can put weight on. Good motor for a big dude, shows good power and push, but needs to develop some hand techniques to compliment his push. Definitely a kid I would invite to a camp to teach some techniques and then continue to monitor during his SR year.
Did TE Carson Meier commit to OU?
on edit he is from Tulsa Union

Any updates on OU LB recruiting? I'm loving the DB offers, but I think OU needs to get more out to LBs. Or are they going to be very selective, and then hit the JUCOs hard?

We can move our DBs to LB pretty easily. They play around the same weight.
