Just bought the wife an Ipad for Christmas. Getting it ready before I wrap it. Any good apps I should know about or tricks to learn? I have an Samsung Galaxy 2 for a phone, so I am not familiar with anything apple. Thoughts???

I'd just google for best "starter" apps for iPad. There are so many and each person is different.
Do you have a network printer?
I would find a corresponding ap to print from the iPad...

Back on task--get a Zagg for the screen or it'll get nicked and scratched up over time. After that, what does she do? Games? Go there then. Read? iBooks, Kindle and Nook all have reader apps. There are also free book apps galore. Business? There are several different apple apps that translate word/excel etc back and forth for you. Movies? Netflix? If you have a Sling, get the appropriate app for that. Facebook is almost a certainty. ESPN. Epicurious. Pageonce is a solid app for managing finances. HBO Go. Pandora. Flixster. Splashtop allows remote access of her desktop/laptop. Wikipanion. The Bible. IMDB. Amazon. Craigslist. MathBoard is really cool for working on the kids math with them. Box or Dropbox. Groupon. Ebay. There's literally no end to what she can use. I use TurboScan on my phone all the time--I'm sure it works as well if not better on the pad--I just have a first gen w/no camera. It allows you to use your phone/tablet as a scanner.
