That's actually a rather safe RRHOF lineup. No surprises, really.

I guess I cross Rush off the best bands ever not in the R&RHOF list now. I guess Soundgarden is next. But they'll probably get in the next couple of years. Albert King is another one that is long overdue. Here he is with SRV

Wait a minute forgot that Thin Lizzy still isn't in. They are even older than Rush and still aren't in.

Are we talking baseball Golden Glove awards, or boxing Golden Gloves? Either way, this guy's a badass.

I think he's extremely talented but I wouldn't classify him as rock and/or roll.

The problem with the rock & roll HOF is that the term rock & roll is either broadly or poorly defined. Also, what are the criteria? It seems like they are letting a ton of people in. It will eventually get to the point where there's so many artists that get into the HOF that there will be none left on the outside. Plus, there's always going to be those who say "I can't believe underrated-guy-you-haven't-heard-of hasn't gotten in." People like to be contrarian that way. Just for the sake of it.

It's about freakin' time Rush got in. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea and a lot of people just can't get past Geddy Lee's voice (took me some getting used to) but their influence is undeniable and they are some fantastic musicians. They've been a very successful band over the years. Still sell out arenas.

The only reason they haven't been inducted yet is because they just don't fit the mold of sexy rock stars (girls aren't huge Rush fans) nor have they ever gotten very much critical acclaim.

There's definitely some gray area just because there's crossover with blues, funk, soul, and jazz. An obvious example would be Stevie Wonder. None of his music is really considered to be "rock" exactly, but he's been a big influence on rock music anyway. BB King is also someone who's considered to be straight blues, but his playing has had a major impact on guitar players. Any rock guitarist knows that blues and rock solos are more or less based on the same kinds of scales and licks.

What annoys me a bit though is when they keep inducting all of these doo-wop acts from the 50's. Yeah they were historically important I guess, but it was Buddy Holly, Elvis, and other blues acts that actually propelled Rock and Roll.

Forget about Rush. How the hell is Quincy Jones just now getting in? Dude is a music legend as well as being responsible for bringing us Rashida Jones.
