Is it time consider the possibility of shutting down schools and doing it through the internet. Disadvantaged homes could be supplied a computer programed for school use only. Imagine the tax dollars and lives that would be saved.

You think kids have bad social skills now a days, just imagine how bad they would be if this were to actually happen.
What if he'd shot up a supermarket? Would we all get our stuff delivered?
But what if a delivery driver shot up someone's house?
Better use robots.
A better idea? Armed police officers at all schools with federal funding, not just HS. Elementary and middle schools too.
Redirect funds from the defense budget to Homeland Security, because we're broke and can't spend another cent. Domestic defense needs to be increased as we are seeing a growing threat of smaller-scale terrorist acts here at home. I think this is a better long term solution than large scale gun reform since that reform is both impractical and likely to be largely ineffective.
Increase employment too.
What would be better is a camera and GPS attachment to every citizen so they can be monitored 24/7. Then we can employee an army of people to constantly view the surveillance.
I would also suggest implanting a RFID at birth...
HS routinely started adding officers on staff after Columbine, why wouldn't we want to do that after Sandy Hook? Seems logical to me.
I say we install a sleeping gas system in every school...have a sensor that can sniff gun powder...everyone goes to sleep...cops walk in a drag the guy to lockup...
Simple...effective...one time cost...
Would work out great!
But what if the robots rebel and take over the world. They might try to plug us into some kind of matrix or something.
Programming could solve that...

Believe or not the Russian special forces tried something along those lines during a hostage crisis. Turns out the gas killed several of the hostages and did not effectively tranq the bad guys.
