No there isn't. There are the Yucatec people ("People of the Maze") who live in the Yucatan and claim to be descendants of the Mayan culture. Their claims are dubious at best and their language and genetic traits mostly appear to have origins from Northern Columbia and southern Panama during the height of the Mayan civilization.
Furthermore there really never was an actual group of people that were the "Mayans". Mayan was a culture not a united group of people as most misconstrue today. They were number of city states from the same region who had cultural similarities, much like ancient Greece.
Has the deadline passed yet? This non stop **** is wearing me out!

You and I have not studied the same textbooks. I diasagree with you. I guess you think the ancient greeks wernt greek.
The Yucatec are only 1 group of people decended form the Maya. There are also modern Maya in Campeche, Tabasco, Chiapas, and elsewhere.

That crap has been debunked numerous times. Those people are descendants of outlier groups that were dominated by the Mayan city states.
I bet you're also someone who still believes that London and Rome were the largest cities in the world during the 12th-15th centuries AD as well.

With all the times this has been debunked I am surprised you did not provide a link to said information.
It is odd that a search of "debunking modern maya" turns up nothing but apocolypse stuff, and that scholars as recently as 2003 have ****erted that there are modern maya. http://www.utexas.edu/utpress/pops/popmolcon.html
Also interesting that National Geographic is apparently spewing propaganda about modern maya... what do they know, they cant be trusted.

I've been terrified at the end of each year since I first heard about this Mayan calendar ending on 12/21/12. Every one of my calendars end on 12/31 of every year. So far so good tho.
