Have Superman's powers been dialed back? When I read DC comics back in the 60s, Superman was so powerful that none of today's superheroes would have stood a chance. He was so strong that he moved planets around and was so invulnerable that he could fly into the sun and come out unscathed. Maybe the authors made him weaker because it was just too hard to come up with worthy antagonists for a near-omnipotent hero. I have not picked up a comic book in decades but some of the responses in this thread lead me to believe that today's Superman is just not what he used to be.

I still say Rouge has a ton of potential. If she can keep her mental state in check she would be unstoppable if she touched the right people. Think of the combination of powers if she touched Superman, Wolverine, Magneto, and Dark Phoenix.

Supes isn't weaker. It's just that there are heroes who's powers are his weakness. Supes can't last against magic or otherworldly powers. He's invulnerable but magic affects him like it would an ordinary person.
