I don't hate them. I just like my peace and quiet in my own home. And, Christmas is the one time where I'm free from work, and they have to come "see the grandchildren."
The entire side of my ex in law family(?) would be a reality producers wet dream. That family tree started branching undergroud.
Next time mine are around I'll try to set up a time for you guys to meet.
The worst part is being far from home, and my son being at his dad's house tonight. When I'm supposed to go pick him up in the morning we are expecting strong thunder storms... Hooray
I hate all of the driving.
I love my in-laws. Worst part is the shopping.

In laws are ok. Shopping for them sucks because they have money and like to give nice gifts as a sign of appreciation. They expect the same in return from their daughter and me.
This. My in-laws are only an hour away. But to see my family it's a 10-hour driving tour of Oklahoma and North Texas. Hate it.

The least offensive thing about my mother in law is that she is an aggie.
She's seldom right, but never in doubt. Also has a wonderful knack of letting you know that you just don't measure up to whatever standard she might have had in mind.
Since she wanted a tv for xmas, I'm sure she'll get around to thanking us for the $500 gift certificate to best buy. Maybe I was out of the room when she said it.

You even have obviously learned to not try and pick out a specific TV for her as I am sure it would have been the wrong one... So the Gift Card was clearly the wise way to go except... You left her with no way to insult you or complain so really you limited her option(s) to simply refusing to say thanks ... Not sure what you were expecting what other way would she have passive-aggressively told you that you do not measure up to her child? lol
Except she can't get that 60 in Samaung Smart TV for $500.

Im lucky. I dont have to do the in law thing yet. Havent met the current girlfriends parents.
I bet that makes them feel good about you. No telling what kind of crazy things they have thought up in their head about why they haven't met you.
But you're taking steps to correct that situation, right?
They just left. But not before waking us up at 4am, so they could leave early to avoid a snow storm expected in Utah. Yeah, 4am. And, it's now 7:45.

Well it's only been 7 weeks. We both live away from home.
