The good news: He'll be even more motivated to break the record.

He'll shatter the record next year.

    Book it.

    9 yards... so ****ing close.

He's a pure beast and it's stunning to come within a hair after 16 games. It's maybe 1-2 more carries in one game. Had he broke the last tackle and scored it's his. God I can't believe how close he was.

Heart of champion. Love that man.

Damn, 9 freaking yards. Whatever though. Doing that a year after an ACL injury like that is an unbelievable feat.

So is is the best single season by a RB ever? He had quite a bit fewer carries than Dickerson I believe. Averaging the 5.5 ypc (or whatever it ended up) is just amazing.

  11. #561
    Oh well...next year 3000 yards

Did anybody see the postgame interview? He didn't even know he was nine yards short. His singular focus was winning this game and getting to the playoffs.

Can we all just agree he is the greatest RB ever and be done with it? I used to say Sanders, maybe Brown. But come on...

In theory, yeah... he should be better next year and more motivated. Unfortunately, these types of seasons don't happen "in theory". That was in all likelihood his best shot at the record.

  21. #571
He's 1 missed 4th and inches away from breaking it. Somewhere.... All year long, there's that 1st down that was missed by inches and instead of a fresh set of downs with a minimum 2 carries... They punt. Game of inches.

  22. #572
So who else was hoping the kicker would shank that kick?

Did the Vikings think he broke the record? They carried him off the field after that run down to the 9.

Not with zero timeouts left. I kinda wished he missed that FG.

I think he was just carrying him off cause they knew they were going to make the playoffs, and AD was the main reason why.

I bet he wouldn't have gotten those 9 yards if he played in the fourth quarter last week...

AD would have done it with fewer touches and a higher yard per carry.

Seriously, if AD gets 9 yards in the playoffs, does that mean he is still a loser?

Or a 10+ yard run back because of a needless holding call, wonder how many times that happened this year?

Dickerson ran for 107 yards in the playoffs that year against New York.

The record for the Vikes and obviously AD would have been more memorable than losing in the playoffs. No way they get far. Anyone remember who lost in the 1st round of the 98 playoffs?
