Awesome.
I miss hockey and glad it is back. This season will not be the same but once the playoffs start (which are still the best playoffs on any professional sport) that will help cure the not having a whole season.

True. NHL playoffs are the best of all sports.

Did anyone notice the USA team just won gold at the world junior hockey championship? Phil Housley coached. Hoping he gets the Olympic coaching gig.
Hockey and baseball can open the season together.

I'm all about the nfl playoffs and then it is baseball season
Yup. I look forward to the World Junior Hockey Championship. It's like March Madness for hockey. Unfortunately, Canada didn't do too hot this year. But, congrats to USA. Not sure if you know, but you guys won gold in 2004 & 2010 as well.

I love hockey and the NHL, but I hope the fans stay away. The NHL has done this far too often and need to realize they cannot keep pulling this ****.

Good.
Sick of Canucks ****ing about Oklahoma City hockey attendance. Boy, Canada must really suck. Don't they have blowing alleys or movie theaters or **** tonk bars or massage parlors or television sets or anything up there?? I guess you can listen to Blue Rodeo records so many times.
Bettman is the worst commissioner in all of sports.

Can't wait for the season to start, but i do agree the fans need to give the first few games a break to prove to the league they can't keep pulling this **** every couple years.
Unfortunately, all the new fans are going to go jumping back to these new games. No effect whatsoever.
But those of us that have following the game for over 30 years have had enough. F em.
Bring back Ivan Boldirev and Derek Sanderson.
Go Red Wings.

I like the shorter regular season, baseball, hoop, hockey all could have shorter regular season's and fans would be happy
I've enjoyed watching Hall and Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins in OKC, but I'd much rather have the Stanley Cup playoffs to watch this spring. Glad they got it worked out.
It was missing?
Everytime I start getting back in to Hockey the greedy ****s screw something up and go on strike... poor players only making $3 million a year instead of $4 million... poor babies, I guess that is one less Bentley that he can buy this year. I am sick of Pro- Athletes and their entitled attitude... your playing a freaking game, not curing cancer.

OKC should try to get the Coyotes. It's a good team, and Phoenix has bent over backwards to prove that they don't want them. That whole failure is one of the black marks on Bettman's career.
I've been gone from Oklahoma since 1996, and I guess things have changed a lot. It used to be that the Blazers sold out the Myriad for every home game. Yes, I know that CHL tickets were cheaper than AHL tickets, but I just kinda figured, based on what the Thunder have done, that OKC folks would pay more for a better product.
But on the other hand, it was kinda tongue in cheek, too. Oklahoma City will have to show they can support one big league team for a sustained time before any others give a serious look to moving in.
Unfortunately, Oklahoma City has proven that it cannot throw a ton of support for more than one team at one time (excluding college athletics). Case in point, the OKC Cavalry enjoyed lots of success until pro hockey came around in 1992. Attendance at Cav games plummeted and they were quickly forced to relocate to Enid, of all places. The Blazers did pretty well until the Hornets came along and people just stopped coming out. I don't think Oklahoma City will ever see 3000+ figures again for pro hockey. That was such a popular time for pro hockey during those years.
Games start today. Go Montreal. Beat Toronto.
What do the Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common??
They both looked good until they hit the ice.
