It could be that we just need to start looking for more guys that can take coaching from our staff. Add "thick skinned" to our recruiting evaluation process. Bob and Mike are from Youngstown and they coach guys hard. Schmitty isn't a teddy bear, either. Elite talent that can't be yelled at won't work out here.
I hear both too.
But we also hear that his methods are turning off recruits….
Even if it’s only a few, JS is a liability to us. For this reason alone it’s time to make a change.
But also look at our high OL attrition and injury rates and their lack of push in the running game….
These issues could have something to do with our conditioning methods?
I would rather have a 3* who doesn't expect to be coddled, than a 4* who thinks things should come easy. Dusty and Teddy were just talking about how rule changes have affected the way Schimtty does things. They say it's no where near as difficult as it was in the past.
the OL attrition is worrisome and has been a problem for several years, I absolutely hate the fact that we can count on injuries and people to leave the program every season before it starts...we haven't had legit OL depth throughout the year in a while now
I agree that's an issue, I'd like to know more about what goes on during conditioning. I know Bob likes what he sees apparently, whether that's a good thing is clearly debatable
I have a gut feeling that part of the problem might be that Boren is so concerned about OU’s image that he has the compliance office breathing down the necks of the football staff and because of that they don’t push the players to excel like they once did. Everything is done by the book and this kills some of the desire of our coaches.
This^ is just a guess on my part?
I don't get the criticism of Bob for hiring his "cronies". That's what coaches do. Bob did it when he took the job in 99.
1. Mike Stoops- brother
2. Mark Mangino- coworker at KSU
3. Brent Venables- Player and coach at KSU
4. Jonathan Hayes- teammate at Iowa
5. Steve Spurrier Jr- coached with at Florida
Gundy and Shipp were hired because of the OU connection. BJW for his Texas recruiting ties, and Mike Leach because of the offense Bob wanted to run.
It's what coaches do.

I thought this quote in the article in today's DOK was interesting
http://newsok.com/ous-new-hires-brin...rticle/3758813These guys are incredibly active,” McCuistion said of Bedenbaugh and Montgomery. “I've had more to do in the last week of following Bedenbaugh than I had in months following (James) Patton and (Bruce) Kittle.”

Back when I had a real job, it amazed me what people would ****ume when they did not see me.
I would get promotions and raises left and right because the people who controlled such things had sent me various places. I was busting my hump and spending quite a bit of time on the road. But the mouth breathers ( you know who you are) glued to their cubicle were freaking convnced that the minute I left, I was out **** off. Likely because that it what they would have done.
I see college recruiters at every high school game I attend in Texas. Every one! For once, I would like to see Oklahoma release its travel iteneraies from say 3 or 4 years ago to not divulge secrets, and maybe it would shut people up about crap they know nothing about.
