Is this a sign of desperation in that now OU has so few options open they will have to pouch other teams' recruits.
61; not at all, late poaching is common. If a recruit will talk to you on the phone, he's at least somewhat interested. Ryan Broyles was poached either on NSD or right before it.
It made zero sense for us to have offered no interior linemen. I guess late is better than never, but we should have tried to sign 2 guards in this cl**** from the get go.
Yeah, he'll go to ATM. The Aggies will somehow get 51 players committed in their 2013 recruiting cl****.
I think I agree with the above posts and my main idea was why OU at this time is not in the mix for some top line prospects who are undecided and have not made other commitments. For some reason OU has just not been the top choice for so many OL and DL players and can't pinpoint the reasons or maybe they are too numerous to list.
See that Nick Saban took off 2 DAYS and then went back to work towards 2014. Is that a joke I read that Bob Stoops took off for an Italian vacation or some sort of a spoof?
I like it. Fill those trenches with Arabs and Polynesians and look out!!!!!!
is this your first year following recruiting ... it happens all the time. sometimes its a mater of changes in the needs of our depth during the year, other targets we thought we have for sure (but missed), and other times its a kid committing too soon and looking at other options (soft commit).
but damn this kid as go a **** load of offers.
so this kid apparently dominated the Semper Fi All Star game.
OL MVP.
Hammad played OT in that game, but can also play OG as well.
Bama, UT are all going to offer.
Kid sounds like he has a mean streak. That being said....Bama or UT come calling we are probably **** out of luck

Sounds like he grew up a UT fan. But has said he'll make the best decision for his future and is open to anyone at this point.
melbitoast,
Have you watched these all star games alot? Usually the OLs are plain awful. So it's not a great venue to judge OL talent.
However, every recruiting analysts at the practices and at the game said that Hammad dominated practice and was great in the
game.
In addition, his senior year footage is excellent. Like most of the OU offers, it's a huge improvement over his junior year film.

Yes, I typically do watch them, and I'm aware of the disadvantage the offenses face in those games. However, like with any other recruit, we really don't know just how good they're going to be until they get to college. These all-star games help some, certainly, BUT, if it's the "3rd-place" all-star game, the guy isn't truly facing what is perceived to be the elite talent. That's why I'm reserving any real enthusiasm.
I pretty much gave up getting super excited about "dominating high school OL recruits" after Stephen Good and Seantrel Henderson. Both were unstoppable in high school, looked like future 1st-rounders, and ended up being nothing but "serviceable" at the D1 level. I've just learned to temper my expectations after religiously following recruiting for the last 12 years.
P.S. After reading my comment and your response, I want to make it clear I wasn't being an ****. :-) I was asking a legit question. I know after the UA and Army games, there are a handful of other ones, and my thought was the Semper Fi game is 3rd in the hierarchy.
Would love to have him but it sounds like uterus is jumping on him. When tx doesn't know what to do, they go after OU commits.
Does TX stand a better chance than OU with this kid?
OU gets the first visit ahead of UT.
He may be ready to shut things down after the OU visit.
Kid is somewhat Trent Williams like in size and build out of HS. Not sure he has the 40time speed/agility of Trent which was just absurd
for a guy that big.

He cancelled his visit. Looks like he's going to visit UT first.
Well damn!
He was committed to OSU but for whatever reason there was a mutual decision with Gundy to de-commit or something. Good luck.
