How much do u ****s spend just on dry cleaning? Ridiculous.
And I also find the irony in ooo calling Romney a snob all the time.
To be honest, I have no desire to wear a suit every day to work. I have a couple of well fitting suits that I rotate through, but I really enjoy the flexibility of a sport coat and enjoy jeans Friday.
Kudos to you though for not going the easy route and stocking up at MW or Jos A Bank, it is more expensive to put in an effort (I have been working on this for two years now) but the clothes fit better and last longer to go expensive.

I agree.. if your going to buy nice suits, buy them custom fitted, otherwise they look like ****. I have some from this place, everything is made to your exact measurements.

Ba-dah-dah-dah-ba-dah-duh!
That's entertainment!
It's definitely true that you get what you pay for when it comes to clothes.
I commend you on your Allen Edmonds. Shell Cordovans will last you a lifetime if you maintain them properly. I have been trying to decide between getting a pair of AEs or a pair of Alden's. From what I've gathered, Alden's may be slightly better, but is it worth the price disparity?
I currently wear my mahogany colored lizard skin Dan Posts with my darker suits, my tan ostrich skin Luccheses with my lighter suits, or I'll throw in my KCs whenever.
What color are your AEs?
This thread is about 50 shades of ghey.

Do these fancy shoes you guys wear have nonmarking soles?
Leather-soled shoes don't mark.
Allen Edmonds and Alden are extremely close in quality. I have one pair of Alden's and 7 or so pairs of Allen Edmonds. 2 in Burgundy Shell, 2 in walnut calf, 2 in brown calf, one boot in cromexel leather. Oh and a pair coming soon in snuff suede.
The Aldens are nice, but not worth the premium in my opinion. The lasts seem kind of blobby to me as well. Also, Alden is struggling with quality control at the moment and from what I read online, they aren't handling it as well as Allen Edmonds does if you have a problem.
The shell is a breeze to take care of. I just put them in show trees and brush them for about 5 minutes each after every wearing. I have my eye on some brown shell shoes later this year.

In years past, I was spending around $400-$500/month on dry cleaning. But, I finally had a coming to Jesus meeting with myself and finally realized how stupid it was. I've got it under control now, and closer to $250-$300/month. And only having shirts, and some slacks done, instead of everything.
*I have also always used my dry cleaning bills as a tax deduction at the End of Year.
Aldens just aren't worth the premium for their calf offerings. They have some beautiful tobacco shell cordovan that tempts me every time I have extra money laying around.
Allen Edmonds is working on expanding their shell lineup and will make almost any of their shoes for you in any color shell you want for a premium.
