The various news networks sure did a good job of researching this story.
Like... why didn’t they talk to this girl’s family or take a picture of a grave.
How much of what else they report on is accurate?

An interesting side story from all this will be how this impacts sports journalism going forward. ESPN has already taken some hits on its credibility over the past several years but this probably, at the very least, elevates Deadspin as a legitimate sports news source. One funny line I heard from Mike Greenberg this morning was that the first thing he heard when he walked into Northwestern Journalism School was "if your mother tells you she loves you, check the source."

In her younger days, my wife dated a "student". He'd talk about classes and profs, leave and go to cl**** at certain times, had books, the whole nine yards. Finally a friend or cousin of his let it slip to her that he wasn't a student at all.
Dude wasn't enroll in cl**** the entire time. It was a 100% fabrication that he maintained for months. People are strange.
have not read the whole thread, but anyone suggested that Te'o and the dude that created the fake account are actually the ones in the relationship?
What's really ****ed up is that when the reporter had doubts that the girl even existed, he didn't follow up and ignore his request to leave the family alone. If I was that lazy at my job I would be immediately fired.
Who really cares...quit giving him / it so much publicity and attention. I don't care for him either, but who really cares. This is so stupid and already out of hand. You can't turn on the TV or the radio or internet w/out it being mentioned....just really stupid. Who cares?
So has he come of the closet yet?

Good post from Longhorn94 on shaggy
This is what I think happened. There are some things that don't quite make sense yet, but overall this story is most logical.I dont think you would make up a fantastic story to cover up something that you were trying to hide. It would bring unwanted attention to it. You would have a "girlfriend" to cover being **** but you wouldn't deliberately and intentionally draw media attention to your cover if you were trying to hide it. It doesn't make sense.
What seems likely to me is the ron dude is behind it all. We know he created LK before Teo was involved and that he had online relationships with others thru LK before Teo. It seems to me that Ron had LK introduce him to Teo and Ron was able to verify LK's existence to Teo as well as validate any of her excuses. I think this was Ron's goal, to meet and hang out with Teo. It also seems that Teo wanted proof from LK and that's why Ron requested the MSMK pic from the girl who was being used for LK pics. Being able to produce a pic with a sign upon request would be pretty convincing. When the media attention heated up, Ron freaked out and killed off LK. Of course this ****umes some white lies and embellishments along the way from Teo, which is pretty normal and completely understandable in this situation.
I have checked with a few of my friends that are still in the agent biz and they have not heard anything about a **** coverup. The talking point out right now is Teo was the victim of an elaborate and sick hoax by a very twisted young man seeking fame and celebrity thru Teo.
I can't imagine a desired result that would lead an agent to ever communicate the quoted rumor to NFL teams.
How about this fellas.
Living in Hollywood amongst bruins and trojans I hear more crap than most. Rumors here are that Mr Manti might be **** and the gf was a coverup...
BAM
But this doesn't account for him meeting her after the Stanford game in 2009. Nor does it account for her coming to Hawaii and meeting his family. Also, how does a guy date a girl for 2 years, consider her the love of his life and not know she doesn't exist? If I'm gonna consider a girl the love of my life, I'm gonn have to be pretty close to her, hang out with her, know her very well etc.

I know this is a long thread and you probably don't want to read it all. But don't come in here posting something like that as if it's some sort of revelation when it's been posted at least 10 times before in this thread. Not to mention that another poster just a few posts up from here proposed the same thing.
How about that fella?

If it was all a joke that got out of hand by this Ron guy, why kill her off? It would have been much simpler, and less likely to be found out, if he'd just "broken up" with Te'o and faded away. Too suspicious that he decided to go the route that earned Te'o fame and a heartbreaking Heisman campaign.
If Te'o is being honest, one would think showing his phone records and proving he spent hours each night talking to this girl for months on end would help his case.

He made up meeting her in 2009 because he didn't want to say, "I met her on Twitter in October 2011". I have a lot of friends who have met significant others on dating websites or facebook and even they tend to fabricate how they met. For some reason, it's easier to say "we met at a bar" than to tell people "we met on PlentyofFish.com!".
"She" strung him along for about a year... "she" couldn't go to Indiana because "her" car wreck, then the diagnosis of leukemia, etc.. all lies. He couldn't visit "her" in California because he had football and school commitments. "Her" lies allowed the relationship to continue even though they hadn't seen each other. One thing is definitely for sure, if he didn't know that he was being faked out, he should have. He's too trusting or just plain dumb.

Here's a good article about Ronaiah Tuiasosopo from TMZ. This dude has serious problems.
Has anyone thought of the notion that maybe he likes dudes? Seems logical. I'm sure no one has brought that up yet, though.

I expect them to realize that if they aren't going to read the whole thread, then they should perhaps refrain from posting something as if it is some sort of marvelous revelation. He didn't state an opinion, he explained that he was a little more in the know about things than us bumpkins in Oklahoma because he lives in Cali. Then he posted something that has been posted repeatedly.
When is he going to have his press conference?
Maybe he likes guys and wants to keep it hidden...
:sarcasm:
Don't know this for a fact but I heard somewhere he was ****. Just not sure where.
As far as saying "Who Cares?" This was a part of the mythology of a guy that was basically the biggest story of this college football season. This would be a much bigger story if ND somehow beat Bama and won the National Title. Fact is this guy was a top 5 pick(who knows could have been the top pick) got a ton of national play of the year awards. And this was all apart of his story that gave him that.
