I went to KC in April and it seemed the plaza district was becoming pretty shady with the character of people there. I'm heading to kC again this weekend and would like some ideas on a good area to stay for eating, shopping night life etc. thanks

The Legends District is really nice. Quite a few hotels, to include Chateau Avalon; Cabela's; tons of restaraunts; and great shopping.
This obviously will not interest you given what you just said, but we always stay at the Courtyard in the Plaza. Nice historic hotel, better rooms than your typical run o' the mill Courtyard, never had a problem.
Used to really like the Plaza, but I haven't been up there in a long time. Liked old Westport too, but mostly for the watering holes.
I lived in KC this summer and we stayed right by the Plaza District. It wasn't shady during the summer at least maybe b/c it was full of people traveling. I would recommend something in the Plaza district though. It's a <10 min drive to Power & Light District, Westport, and just about everything else. The shopping is good, plenty of good restaurants ( I recommend Blanc Burgers + Bottles, good happy hour, good burgers and lots of beer and not fancy). Ive stayed at 4 of the hotels right around the Plaza and enjoyed all of them just depending on what price range you want to spend. Definitely hit up Oklahoma JOe's BBQ b/c I thought it was the best out of the 5 or 6 BBQ Joints I tried while I was there.
This is nice, but for about the same price, you can stay at the Raphael. YWIA.

Nothing wrong with the Plaza area. If you get too far to the north you start getting into midtown and then it gets a bit iffy. There are places all over the Plaza - albeit pricey ones - as well as plenty of places to eat. I don't know what you are going to be here for but the Legends is nice. It's just 20 or so minutes from downtown/OP. And there's always OP. Still very nice with plenty of places to stay. The Raphael is very nice and there are several other ones in the downtown area. Down there you're within walking distance of the P&L District which offers all sorts of trendy bars and such.

Their strip clubs have weird rules.

Anyone know the rules of the casino's up there? Are they "real" casinos like Vegas or Indian?
Thanks

If only there were some poster on here with first hand knowledge of KC.
Stay with KC's daughter she is over the flu ... less germs than a hotel
The Dark Side
Zona Rosa is also I decent area but it's up north and 30 min. from downtown.
Downtown by Power and Light district is nice.
The legends by speedway is also if you're into shopping.
There is outlet nearby
Haha, funny you say that. My buddy and I just found that place about a month ago. What a ****hole. But damn if they don't have pretty good tacos. Not good for you, but tasty. And Zona Rosa is cool, although its mostly chains, no unique places. But it's worth checking out. You can see all their restaurants and shops on their website.
Yeah. I've looked. I'm guessing it's like the Legends.
When I worked at UPS I ran with people from up north. We'd have plenty of late night/early morning drunken/stoner runs there. Those deep fried burritos are the best(Much like the ones at Texas Toms). I probably hadn't been there in almost 30 years. Every time I go to the airport i tell myself i need to stop in there.
