Gonna check this out. Seems like it could be pretty good.

Yeah, when does this premiere again? I was intrigued by the previews.
This Wednesday, I believe. Takes the place of AHS. Looks good.
Reallly looking forward to this series. I think it puts an interesting spin on the Cold War.
Looks promising. FX hasn't really missed on any series lately so it should be good. Having Keri Russell is also a plus
For some reason, I thought this was going to be on FOX, but if it's an FX show all the better. Oh, and obligatory "we need a gawd dern entertainment forum so I don't have to sift though 7 pages of **** to find this thread" complaint.
Yeah, looking forward to this too.
I like me some keri russell and I hope this one is good.
Have the DVR set.
Looking forward to it, as well.
Squeeeee!!!!!!!![]()
It's time!
Coming on now. I'm excited to check this new show out
ENTERTAINMENT BOARD NOW YOU LAZY ****S!
Oops we have 2 threads.
Good start.
My bad I did a text search and there was nothing in the first 20 results. Oh well I tried.
As I said in the other thread. Keri Russell is nice.
Guess we know what Dr Jenner did before working for the CDC.

I liked it. Can't wait to see how it turns out
Really liked it. The ending was really good and the previews looked promising.
....am i supposed to be rooting for the FBI guy next door or Kerri Russle's sweet sweet communist ****?
Workers of the world unite....for Kerri Russell's behind
I has a sad that there was no commie dude hiney. Mama needs some eye candy.
Well that was perty damn bad****. The only bad things I can say are that some of the Russian accents are horrendous and the whole bit about the pedophile and subsequent **** kicking was ridiculous and unnecessary.
I really enjoyed it. Seems like the story is going to be very deep. Looking very forward to it.
The pedo part, I think, was to garner favor for the daddy spy with the audience. He's clearly the loose cannon, likable one of the group.

Only 2 problems I really had were that not enough people smoked and Kerri's choreographed fighting in one scene was particularly telegraphed and choppy, it was a little painful to watch. There are a few other things (particularly some of the dialog of the kids) that sounded more like something someone would say today or that someone wrote eighties dialog with hindsight built in (not sure how to phrase that any different)
That being said I enjoyed the show and will definitely be watching the rest of the season.

I really enjoyed it. See Graham Yost is the executive producer same guy as for Justified. FX has not missed with a series in a while.
Mama felt the three **** scenes in a single episode were a little much, but we are looking forward to the season. Should be darned interesting.

I thought it was pretty good. I will keep watching.
Interesting how the producers are starting the show making it difficult to not root for the commies so far..... makes me wonder if/how the show will paint them in a bad light.

That's funny.... because I thought the pedophile and subsequent **** kicking was actually one of the most revealing elements they could have included. The whole point of the show is to give you insight into the lives and minds of a spy during the cold war. And, one of the most difficult parts of being a spy is not letting anyone know that you are one. If you are highly trained in hand-to-hand combat but are also a spy, then one of your MAIN pitfalls is to not let your emotions get out of hand even when you are pushed in normal daily life. It would have be SO gratifying to pound that pedophile to shreds right there in that store, and you could tell he was struggling with it while it happened. But, he kept his restraint. I thought the scene in the store illustrated that quite nicely.
Then, the payoff was him exacting his retribution anyway. And, again it was a great illustration of a spy utilizing his skills properly. He took note of the guy's name from his credit card and then, obviously used his resources to find this guy and do what needed to be done... and all without any real chance of being made.
So, in my opinion it was far from extraneous.

One thing that I felt was AWESOME was the scene at the end when the FBI agent was in their garage. If you watch closely, when he's exiting the garage, his flashlight ever so briefly shines directly on Phillip's face but he didn't see it.

That's why they clearly showed him doing it in a way to decrease the risk... Plus, you can tell they ARE definitely trying to keep him as a "sympathetic" character. Despite the fact that he's a Russian spy, it makes the audience feel better about him since he "took out the trash." It also helps that he's very obviously struggling with the idea of defecting already...
