I think 12 teams could be had in due time. Could raid the big ten for Iowa, and get Colorado from that conference.
It would be fun to have Texas come to Norman for a CCG, though.

Well the 2nd part of this request is a CCG with NO divisions. This is really the key part. If the Big 12 goes to 12.....they are thinking one option maybe to have no divisions. That way they don't have to worry about all the issues with divisional splits and being in the wrong side like the North was.

I'd rather not lose that extra game which would cost us a trip to the Cotton Bowl.
That is total bull you know what. Why play a team for the second time? I don't get it, uhhhhhhhh, oyeah, money.
No, it would be easier if everyone went to 10 conference teams and played a round robin. Since that isn't going to happen, it would be better if conferences with 12 or more members got rid of the divisions and just played the top two teams in a CCG or better yet, just crown the top team champion. Each conference has rules for picking a champion without having a CCG, just most conferences haven't used them in so long that they don't remember what those rules are.
If a conference with one ten team division that plays a round robin is forced to play a CCG to be included in a four team playoff then yes, any conference with two divisions should have to play two DCGs and a CCG. That would be the price of expansion. The Pac 10 and Big Ten could've stuck with this model but opted for expansion. They can't argue now that a ten team conference be left out because they don't play a CCG after they were allowed to play for BCS titles for years without having to play a CCG.
Didn't read. So hows this gonna work? It would seem the top 2 teams rematch each other on championship weekend?
I just don't want another trip to KC...in December...at night...brrrrrr! Hey, I'm gettin' old.
But it would be fun to hear Tex **** about it...
I think the bottom line is more games equal more money. It does not really matter to these ****hats whether or not the game actually makes sense competitively. It's just mo money, mo money.

It's just a game Bowlsby is playing.
This actually might be more important than anything else with regard to the future of the Big 12. Not the Maryland lawsuit, not the B1G poaching ...of course you have to also accept that the Big 12 poaching the ACC is a fantasy at this point.
THIS is the wedge the ACC will use to save itself.
And that is precisely why Bowlsby wants a CCG.
Why? Because having a CCG is going to be the gateway into the playoff. That provision will be adopted and Bowlsby knows it. Remember that the SEC was rumored to have suggested this and certainly the ACC will be down for it.
The Big East will add a CCG. The MW is adding one.
The MAC has one...CUSA has one.
And since the ACC will already have one (even if they are poached down to 10, they'll get back to 12) that leaves the Big 12 and the ****ing Sun Belt on the outside looking in. Who will oppose it besides the Big 12 and the Sun Belt?
In other words, if you want to get back to 12, pray that this bull**** is defeated. It's the only way it happens. If this goes through, we're stuck at 10 for the next dozen years.
And this is why Bowlsby has mixed messages.
They want 10 and also they want the CCG because they know they can't fight that provision.
And if this bull**** isn't allowed (10 team CCG) then the Big 12 is going to have to add two teams and get very little money for it. Because FSU and Clemson (etc.) ain't happening. Period.
Think Big East and MWC schools.
We won't have a choice.
