Notice that he is being recruited by Venerables at Clemson. Is he a D back also? Norvell is after him as a WR. At 6'6 175lbs assume he is going to fill out or get broken like an old match stick.

  3. #3
He's also being recruited by colleges to play basketball. Wasn't Jermaine Gresham pretty slim while in high school?

  4. #4
Venables is recruiting him because of the oklahoma connection.

Gresh was around 215 but put on 15 pounds after football season skipping basket ball because of a knee injury

  6. #6
He actully looks similar to Gresh did. Maybe a little thinner (in hs) but maybe he puts on the weight by his senior year

For someone 6'6 175, Mead is such a fluid athlete. He has film similar to Mark Andrews (2014 Rivals 100 WR and hopefully future Sooner). I'd actually say based on the film I've seen, Mead is slightly more impressive. I bet Rivals puts him in their next 250. He's also said that he and his family are big Oklahoma fans!

Just another name to watch out for in this highly talented 2014 class.

  8. #8
Picked up offers from LSU and A&M today. He is going to be a great WR.

  9. #9
OU and LSU are both offering the chance to play hoops as well, he plans to take a lot of unofficials this summer then narrow his list before the season

I thought LSU was baseball? I could be wrong though.

What's the latest on this kid? Is he going to wait til NSD since he plays multiple sports?

  12. #12
According to other sources, he committed to OU.

  13. #13
    Committed

  14. #14
This is a great pickup. His offer list speaks for itself and I believe he'll eventually be a 4 star.

Someone get that kid a sandwich. He could easily add 15-20 on that frame. But looks like a great addition to this class.

With Mead and Meiers at 6-6ish, I think we've moved on from Mark Andrews. What other receivers do y'all think we'll get to finish this class? I'm gonna predict Keenan Brown and KD Cannon

As far as WR's have we ever recruited this many that are this tall?

  24. #24
His highlights are sick. People that size shouldn't be able to move like that.

Writing is on the wall folks.

    What does Alabama have?

    6'0 - 6'2" secondaries.

What beats that? Bigger receivers. Teams are going to bigger secondaries. Football is a copycat sport. We're jumping on that bandwagon. Notice how big our DB recruits are?

Worked in the 70s for Switzer. Copying is the way to succeed.

Scout has him as a TE. Has this kid ever blocked a DLman?

Nope and he never will. Doesn't have the frame to be a TE.

  34. #34
Most of these kids thicken up some between there jr. year and senior year, he'll probably play a couple of sandwiches shy of 200 this year..

OU has definitely not moved on from Mark Andrews. Infact I think Mark Andrews ends up at OU.

I just think he plays that flex TE position like Jermaine Gresham. He is 6'6 235 already.

Great news for the first of Summer. Good pickup--now we need to get some big boys and LBs.

I wouldn't count on beating Bama anytime soon.

It's not necessarily just about Bama. It's about keeping up with the Joneses of college football.

CB. He really enjoys WR though (at least from his summer interviews), so I'm not sure how strong our position is with him. I say take Cannon or Brown and call it a day.
