Sorry to hear that, but if it makes you feel any better (& if there is such a thing), at least she went the right way. We lost our little 10 lb. Yorkie/Poodle mix last week when he somehow got into the neighbors' yard when we let him out to do his business (we all think one of their dogs managed to get ahold of him under the fence & dragged him under it because we had him 15 years & he'd shown no inclination whatsoever to do something like that, but there's no way to prove it) & the 3 full grown Golden Labs they have next door made sure that Freeway never made it back to our yard. Not exactly the fairest of fights.
As I said, we did have him 15 years (& FWIW, we think we'd have had him around 4-5 more or so because he was showing some very slight signs of slowing down) of nothing but laughter & happiness so we're thankful for that, but we're having one heck of a time dealing with the way he went out, he deserved a better fate. It'd still be tough no doubt, but I have very little doubt that we'd be handling it a little better had I just rolled over one morning & found he'd passed. At least yours went out peacefully, be thankful for that much, & keep your chin up.
