There are lots of reasons that guys wash out. I don't think it is always academic failure but it is frustrating to put time and effort into getting guys on campus and have them flunk out. Especially if they are going to be contributors.

However, every time one of these guys leaves a little voice in the back of my head sez............"One more schollie for next year."

Ugh not sure why I am bothering to comment on here but all things being equal I really think Simon is a player that we will all wish had figured things out in time to stay here and play for us

If we hire the best coaches they are going to have the skills nessasasary to identify, evaluate, sign and develop players at higher than business as usual rate. It’s pretty obvious that the coaches who are no longer here had difficulty in getting enough of the right players to OU.

This. But on the other hand, Stoops and Co have fallen off the list of elite teams that recruits want to come and play for, so in the end they have to take all these sorry **** scrubs.

A difficult dilemma indeed. We need the players to get back and we can't get back without the players. I think we can all agree we are not even in the running for the elite line players and that is a little bit of a problem.

Interesting way to look at it. We'll need the DE beefed up to the 260 range, but you may be on to something here if we switch to the 3-4 as you suggest.
