    OU Logo Cody Thomas rumors?

Has anyone heard rumors of Cody Thomas going to play baseball instead of becoming a Sooner? Just seen an article on Rant Sports about him playing baseball possibly.

Originally, that was a concern and I'm sure it still is to some degree. Won't know anything until he is done with his baseball season this year. I couldn't blame him for taking the money in the MLB instead of coming to OU. QB position is one of the deepest on the team so if he goes OU will be ok.

I had heard that earlier but thought he had decided on football. Hope he stays with football. See a great future for him here.

Read where he declined to throw pitches for scouts last summer because he wanted to focus on football. Hopefully he'll improve his stock while playing for Golloway

the MLB draft is hard to remember from a dollars perspective. They have close to 30 rounds so it's hard for me to remember the numbers for a 5 round guy vs a 2nd round guy.

Says here he should at least get $600,000 to off set the cost of college. The $600,000 is the signing bonus as 1st year players make about $850 a month in the smallest league. I think 5th round bonus' are around $150,000

Just because he isn't a pitcher doesn't mean he won't go high (although it is true he projects higher as a pitcher). OFs get drafted out of highschool in the 1st round pretty much every year.

What will hurt his draft stock as much as anything is baseballs punishments for not signing your draft picks. If there is any speculation he will play football instead of baseball, then teams will be less willing to risk drafting him.

Not to say he is a first round talent, I haven't seen him any higher than like 4th, but I some friends have told me they have heard he has been moving up draft boards. For whatever that is worth.

Not really a rumor. The risk of him playing pro baseball has been there since Day 1.

If true that's really good. I'd take a few more of those players playing two sports.

Wrong. Football overrides the other sports when it comes to schollys. If he even practices football, he counts against our limit
