AR Commit Alex Collins, RB from Miami, FL Signing Day Issues
Either had a change of heart on his commitment to Arkansas or his mom confiscated his Letter of Intent.
Every National Signing Day brings with it some unexpected suspense, and it appears we have our first such development this year.
Five-star running back Alex Collins verbally committed to Arkansas on Monday and was expected to make it official at a ceremony on Wednesday. Instead, Collins canceled his ceremony because he needed more time to think about his decision.
Which is somewhat different than the story from ESPN's RecruitingNation. Corey Long reported on Wednesday that Collins' mom "confiscated" his letter of intent and left the school with it. She reportedly did so because she doesn't want her son to leave the area to go to school.
Collins is considered the top all-purpose running back in the 2013 class by 247Sports.com. The 5-foot-11, 204-pound back from South Plantation in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has rushed for 2,915 yards and 38 touchdowns the last two seasons.
Collins is also considering Florida, Florida State, Miami and Wisconsin.

Heard he is trying to find his mom as we speak. My guess is she will forge his signature, head to Kinkos and fax it to Miami

She will write "SWAG" on it...

Reminds me of a kid named Clay that had to go to Clemson instead of OU because his family member wouldn't let him sign with OU.

I wonder why he would want to get away from her?

I'm guessing a Miami booster offered mama some employment opportunities if sonny signed with the 'Cane. She either didn't tell sonny or he didn't care. Or, maybe Arky gave sonny some money that mama don't know about. Either way, screw Texas.

Nothing beats the story, a few years ago, of the kid who chose Cal over Oregon at a big hat ceremony and didn't have an offer from either team.

From what I hear, he doesn't even live with his mom. He has such a bad relationship with his mother that he practically can't stand her. No wonder he wants to get the hell out of Florida

Well this is going to get messy and stupid
PLANTATION, Fla. -- ESPN 150 running back Alex Collins signed his national letter of intent with Arkansas on Thursday, nearly 24 hours after he intended to because his mother refused to sign the paperwork.
Decked out in camouflage overalls and flanked by his father Johnny Collins, his aunt Loretta Collins and his grandmother Beverly Collins, Alex Collins (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation) signed the letter at Bokamper's sports bar.
Collins joked with his father and best friend, John Franklin, showing no signs of stress from Wednesday's dramatic incident involving his mother, Andrea McDonald.
His mother was not present at the ceremony, but she hired the Cochran Firm to represent her in case of litigation.
