Anybody else have this game? Career mode is freaking frustrating. i can't figure out what attribute to increase to make a freaking layup. i'm about done with it

Yes but I hardly play it because I barely have the time.
my guy rarely goes inside (at 5'10" 220 lbs it's difficult!) but he's dead eye **** behind the arch! To me the best way to build up VC is with the My NBA2K app on your phone. Theres also a facebook game that helps VC but I havent put much time in it... When shooting do you use the right stick or the buttons?
I love it, but I'm not great at it. I've adjusted the sliders a little bit to help, but I can't find the magical setting where I'll shoot a normal percentage. I'm either shooting 15-20% or 55-65% from 3pt range. I haven't played it much, but it's awesome. It's a fun one to play one game after I finally close the laptop and step away from work in the wee hours of the morning.
The app is glitchy. The team trivia messes up a lot. And the autograph session doesn't work right

How do you play the Facebook game
i've gotten better at layups but damn now I can't hit a 3 pointer to save my life
I don't think I will ever buy anothe 2k game again. I don't play often but it's frustrating as he'll to finally have time to play and te freaking game will never connect to the 2k servers. By the time it does I can't play anymore
My issues mirror your's exactly Bounce! With two chillruns and a nagging wife, it's hard to get time to play... Sure enough when I do though, the damn thing wont connect!![]()
I'm in the playoffs of my first season. My 3 pt is maxed out, and my guy just recently starting making layups. I don't make all of them, but now I can make most of them. The best way to play this game and not be completely frustrated is to max out 3 pt. I bought it, and almost returned it the same day. Your guy needs to be a 3 pt specialist with maxed out 3 pt attribute. I literally stand at the arc the whole time and as soon as I get the ball I shoot. I p**** if the D is good. I can make 60-70% of my 3's, and I shoot almost 20+ a game. I lead in scoring. This game was by far the most difficult game to learn for me. (I never played any of the other NBA 2k games.)
2k games blow balls, especially the baseball one. The basketball one feels so unnatural, I miss EA and the dribble stick. It's almost impossible to slash to the basket in 2K basketball.

I don't mind the game play too much. It just seems like it was thrown together quickly
NBA Live was always superior, IMO.
Of course, I never played the single player career mode. Only ****ociation mode and Jordan mode. Both were great.
Also had to change the camera to the behind the back view instead of sideways.
Do we expect any next-gen announcements from 2K at E3?
I wouldn't be surprised if they port a version over to the new systems.
Especially since EA Sports will probably pull their bull**** "start from scratch" so they can remove a ton of useful feature from their games in the new generation, and then slowly put them back in over the next 5 years and act like it's a revolution.
The early 2k games were terrible.
Maybe I've been playing games longer?
I liked the controls and the camera orientation on the EA versions (i played my first in the mid 90's). After 2K came in, there was no comparison...perhaps you were an xbox guy and had no other choice? i cant say much for the recent iterations, as I don't play much basketball on the console these days.
(also, I think the early 2k games were missing one of the licenses)
keys to getting your player good. Don't just load up on the three-point shot. Hit the midrange and your lay up. Then, work on your other stuff like your short game and your passing.
I'm a 3pt specialiest SF and my player started out with an 82/99 3PT. That's pretty solid. Just figure out what your players release point is on that, and you're fine. Then you just need to work on the other stuff. Being able to attack off the dribble is pretty solid.
also, do the damn drills, every time they give you an opportunity.
Short summary of what you have to do in order to create the best My Player in NBA 2K13:
1. Create a Small Forward (3PT Specialist)
2. Make him 7 ft tall and weighing around ~260lbs
3. Give him a quick and high release shot (I used Form 27, Base 8)
Give him a quick dribble. Work on the passing.
I don't play the VC games on fb, or the app. I just played tons of games. Also, remember, online games get you a lot of points - as do playing the NBA Today games. The game rewards you for making smart plays too. If you taking last second shots. Making a big p**** or a really good shot selection, blocking a shot or something. It'll boost your rating.
it kinda sucks this game rewards you for being selfish. But, it pays off though.
Here's a couple of Screenshots from my player.

Chuck, you're awful purdy.
lol my guy looks identical. I feel like every white guy that creates a character looks like that. All the other hair options look stupid.
The NBA 2K series has unanimously received more favorable reviews from the gaming press than the NBA Live series since its initial release on the Dreamcast in 99. It's always been fully licensed by the NBA and NBAPA. EA had to completely stop making the NBA Live series a couple years ago because they had gotten to the point where they were just garbage compared to 2K. It wasn't profitable enough for EA to just buy out the better competition like they did with the NFL in 2005.
I stick by my opinion. I'm not sure what profitability, etc. has to do with this discussion. I'm not sure how you can compare a product that was a Sega exclusive for many years...although ign rates NBA2k and Live 2000 nearly identically. I haven't played an NBA game in well over 5 years.
NBA 2K and 2K1 were the only Sega exclusives. 2K3 onward has been multi-platform.
That said, I had NBA Live 2003 and the next NBA game I bought was NBA2K11. By that point, NBA Live had already been canned.
