    Was jsut on the Rush

Stoops gave me the opportunity and i jumped at it. i knew if i ever got this opportunity i would jump at it

Got here 1:30 Saturday and started watching film then. Been watching the formation at Oklahoma, met with some players Saturday will have a chance to meet with the players more.

The only way to play football is to have a nasty mentality on the oline. My job is push you and make these kids be great. I expect the guys to respond

Bunch of carry over between all the offenses between the Big 12 teams. going to have to twist

The Oklahoma connections made it easier to come here

Asked about recruiting lineman to the Big12: First of all its Oklahoma, players need to know Oklahoma has a history. You have be relentless in recruiting. I signed my papers at 1:30 then started making calls. There is so many things to sell about Oklahoma. You have to work your butt off

Is jacked up about spring ball

You'll see him riding his bicycle around Norman but would rather be watching film

    Boom

"Bedenbaugh on O-line: "You've gotta play it tough. You've gotta play it physical. You've gotta be mean. And you've gotta be nasty"
He seems truly excited to be here and honored to work for OU. Seems like that's something we've been missing lately.

Not sure what year it was but we had the same problem against Idaho State, Idaho ****ing State!
THIS! I see comments all the time about how good the O-line was and how Murray got all kinds of rushing yards. I once heard John Madden ask Al Michaels "does a good o-line make a good running back or does a good running back make a good o-line". I say it can be either. Murray was special and if you look at what he's done with Dallas, then that should be proof of his ability and made the o-line look decent at run blocking. I remember going to the games that season and complaining that the run blocking was subpar and Stoops needed to get it fixed. This has been a year-in-year-out systemic problem and I'm glad to see a fresh infusion of coaching talent to this team, particular on the O-line!

Remember this statement came from an O-Line coach but I think it rings true on all levels: A bad running back can run through a good hole but a good running back can't run through a bad hole or no hole.

Just to remind everyone the 2008 O-line statistics: Chris Brown had 1220 yards at 5.6 per carry, DeMarco Murray had 1002 yards at 5.6 per carry, Mossis Madu had 497 yards at 4.1 per carry. That "decent" offensive line opened holes that allowed nearly 2800 team rushing yards. They also allowed only 13 sacks all season, and at least 5 O lineman from that team have played in the NFL. So yeah, other than not punching it in from the goal line against Florida, they were pretty decent. Beyond that, the 09, 2010, 2011, and 2012 offensive lines were all disappointments at run-blocking, especially when compared to the 08 line.

I think we're having trouble recruiting elite lineman talent because of the hurry up offense. We had elite talent when the hurry up began and could therefore run and p**** block well. Lately, we've had lots of tweener guys that are quick on their feet but not strong enough to run block when it counts. Or we haven't been practicing run blocking enough. Whatever the reason is, hopefully Bedenbaugh (and not having Landry Jones at QB) will get us back to a more balanced offense where we can do both and not be predictable.

I don't disagree but if memory serves me correctly, there were plenty of times I saw Murray get stuffed at the line. I know this happens at all levels in every game but it seemed like it was more than it should have. I don't have the stats to back this up so I could very well be wrong on this.

It happened quite often in 09' and 10'.

What made the 2008 team special was because of the balance. The line wasn't great but it was good enough. Chris Brown could bust through the line when nothing was there which opened up the outside run game with Murray and kept defenses honest enough to give Bradford time to find open receivers and the offense lit everyone up except for Texas and Florida. We went away from the balance that made our offense great in both of those games. It was tough running against Texas in the first quarter so we just gave up on the run game which allowed Texas to do pretty much whatever they wanted against a defense that was worn plum out in the 2nd half. Even without the one two punch of Brown and Murray, we still had success running the ball on Florida with Brown and Madu but after a couple of screw ups by the right side of the line at the goal line, OU decided to give up on the run game which allowed Florida to do whatever they wanted in the 4th quarter.

I like this guys' attitude. I haven't heard this kind of talk about Oklahoma's history since Bob's team won the title in 2000. This is a program that competes for and wins championships and the kids need to be reminded of that. They weren't alive when OU had it's glory days and they need to have that sense of pride instilled in them that they are part of something much bigger than themselves and be proud to put it all on the line for The Oklahoma Sooners. We are as big as Alabama and the kids need to know that and not be afraid to stand up and fight when we face the likes of Notre Dame and USC.
