TRAC Lineman of the Year, at 6-2, 280, was arguably the section's most intimidating defensive lineman. He made 63 tackles, including 18 for losses and seven sacks. "He was extremely quick and versatile," Grizzlies coach Justin Garza said. "He was in the backfield so often, that's why people ran away from him."

How's that? I saw film of a DT who attacked gaps, not blockers.

If they get him they'l RS him slap about 40 pounds on him and sit him in the middle as a run stuffer

Why do you say that? He already looks pretty large and he is only 6'1, so probably 6'0.

I don't care where they play him on the DL. Dude has potential and had a good Jr year. I'm just glad they're being more aggressive for 2014.

Doesn't look like a NT, to me. If his athletic ability is that good, allowing him to shoot gaps and chase down offensive players, why corral it and make him absorb blockers?

  8. #8
It seems like the coaches didn't really recruit that hard because they knew 14 was going to be a better year for athletes.

"He's already had some preliminary conversations with Byrd about the football program, about Norman and about possibly playing there."
""I talked to Hatari a little bit about them and pretty much he said it's a good place to be, the coaches are really good, the fans are great and he said it's a great culture out there for the players.""

  10. #10
What are the chances he comes to Norman? If Byrd stays on him to come I would say it's about 90%.

As expected, #USC has offered Fresno (Calif) Central DL Tashon Smallwood at Jr Day, don't be surprised with an early commitment

Well let's hope Smallwood pays attention to the snake, p.o.s. coach that is USC and decides to look elsewhere.

#USC lands commitment from Fresno DT Tashon Smallwood, story on the way

  22. #22
The 4-star DT told me moments ago he is NOT solid on his commitment to USC anymore but said he's not decommitting, just not solid anymore. Told me he's looking at UCLA CAL ASU & OKLAHOMA in addition to USC.

We got one Smallwood this class, lets get two. It might look like my golf bag

  26. #26
Jordan Smallwood was from the 13 class but yeah lets get another...go get him Monty!

  27. #27
Think about this DT play this year is gonna be instrumental in us landing a top dt this class. I can see us switching Smallwood because of former teammates and/or how well the dtackles play. If Quincy (or Phillips/whoever) has an awesome year...young recruit is gonna either wanna get to play along side them or be coached by their coach/scheme

If that doesn't work bring Gerald McCoy in on Tampa bays buy week and have Tashon watch a clip of the NFL draft when Gerald was #3 overall. Then bring out a large fake check payable to Tashon the size of a person written in the amount of however many millions McCoy got and have Tashon hold it

My #1 most wanted recruit in 2014.

Would be so huge. So is this HS in Fresno just a d1 factory, or was it just kind of anomaly that they've put out like 6 or 7 OU caliber prospects in a 3 year span?

I'm not sure why, but I just watched his film for the first time. Holy shit. Now I understand why some of you have such a hard-on for this guy. Considered me aroused.

Why was this kid moved down to a 3*?

Rivals doesn't give a lot of explanation for these things. I'm going to try and find an answer. I love his film and think he would be great fit in the 3 man front.

Someone change is good for both parties. Shipp was a great coach for OU but he clearly got lazy here. Change was needed. We got a fresh new coach who is working his tail off and Shipp may have that fire back.

We are fine at DT..Wade will be a soph. Peterson a senior...and Phillips will be a junior...we already have one guy for 15 and prob land Overton as well. Considering we only use one guy then we are fine...one of the true fresh could show up...we start to get a good idea after spring and into fall practice who's who among the redshirts...our biggest need right now is backers..we use three and four of them and we had a bare cupboard
