Putin is no threat. I was told so in the election last year.
I wonder how close they actually got before getting intercepted. I have a hard time believing that they made into that airspace unnoticed.
No big deal, just saw one fly over my house.
No one's keeping an eye on 'Pootin'. See what happens when Palin isn't the Governor of Alaska?
Lol... first off, nice headline... They are turboprops, not jets...
I guess this is a story. But, those bombers would be destroyed the instant we wanted them destroyed if they didn't have some other air support. It would be the equivalent of floating a couple of helium balloons in from of some duck hunters as a show of force.
The only way this is really a big story is if we didn't know they were there until we had visual range on them... which could be a possibility, but it's not stated in the article. Not to mention that any type of stealth aircraft kind of defeats the purpose if you can HEAR the engines before they even get to you. lol
Retaliation for the meteor?
This really isn't a new thing for the Russians. This has been going on since the Cold War. They send their bombers towards our airspace, we intercept them with fighters, a little foreign relations (you know, flipping them the bird) takes place between the aircrews, and they're then escorted it of our airspace and they go home. It's like a game. Anyone who thinks that just because the Soviet Union fell and the Russians are now our friends is sadly mistaken.
And yes, Russia is still most definitely a staunch enemy.
But I really have no idea if that is true.
Don't if we are attacked obama will lead from behind.
this thread is useless with out pics.
Russian bombers have big engines.
But their long range bombers have props instead of jet engines like ours.
Unit I was in used to tag these guys then guide East Coast fighters to shadow.
My old Job.
Those ****y cossacks
Russian Spy Ship Docks in Havana
Neither Cuban authorities nor state media have mentioned the ship's visit, unlike previous tours by Russian warships. Its visit comes as Venezuela, Havana's current isolated economic and political patron, is facing unprecedented violent protests against President Nicolas Maduro's government.
American military chiefs have been left dumbstruck by an undetected Chinese submarine popping up at the heart of a recent Pacific exercise and close to the vast U.S.S. Kitty Hawk - a 1,000ft supercarrier with 4,500 personnel on board.
By the time it surfaced the 160ft Song Class diesel-electric attack submarine is understood to have sailed within viable range for launching torpedoes or missiles at the carrier.
Were those Russian bombers parachuting dead mice to help get rid of those damn Green Snakes?
Russia 'simulated a nuclear strike' against Sweden, Nato admits
Two Tupolev Tu-22M3 strategic bombers escorted by four Sukhoi Su-27 jet fighters crossed the Gulf of Finland and came within 24 miles of Swedish territory off the island of Gotland, 100 miles from Stockholm, on March 29, 2013.
They veered off after apparently completing dummy bombing runs against targets believed to include a military base in southern Sweden and the headquarters of Sweden’s signals intelligence agency outside Stockholm.
The incident caused controversy in Sweden at the time because the Swedish military was caught unprepared and had to rely on Danish airforce jets, operating as part of a Nato’s Baltic air policing mission, to respond.
Do you have any idea what one F-22 would do against all those bombers in air to air combat. They would not know what even hit them.
If anybody thinks our military is weak, they haven't been paying attention to the budget. In 2003 our Defense Budget was $405 Billion. In 2016, it will be $615 Billion.
Neo-cons need to quit relying on trying to convince stupid people that our military is weak and we're all in danger.
Conservatives like me will continue to rail against this outright lie, and post the spreadsheets that prove it.
but if you think $615bil in 2016 dollars is anywhere close to $405 bil in 2003 dollars......you need a lesson on inflation....
equipment i bought for the farm in 2003 has doubled and tripled since then.....so imagine what military equipment costs have done in 13 years....
