Schooner OU vs ULM PPV Info

    http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArti...CLID=209167160
NORMAN, Okla. – FOX Sports Oklahoma announced Friday the participating program providers that will distribute the season-opening Aug. 31 football game between Oklahoma and Louisiana-Monroe on pay-per-view. Suggested retail price is $39.95 for the telecast, which will be available in high-definition.

Ron Thulin, Dave Lapham and Chad McKee (sidelines) will call the game, while coverage will begin with Sooner Gameday at 5 p.m. Following the contest, Sooner Sports Overtime will have complete postgame analysis and press conferences from OU coaches and student-athletes.

The game is being televised on pay-per-view because it wasn’t selected for over-the-air broadcast or cable television coverage. It will be available on a dedicated pay-per-view channel on participating Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas program providers and nationwide via participating satellite and Telco distributors.

Outside of the state of Oklahoma, viewers can purchase a live stream of the pay-per-view telecast on SoonerSports.tv, OU’s premium digital website, for $44.95 to watch on their computer, mobile device or tablet. The purchase will include three free months of SoonerSports.tv and SoonersIllustrated.com.

Listed below are program distributors that will offer the telecast (more are expected to be added and will be announced prior to kickoff). Cable TV subscribers must have digital cable to order the telecast. Customers can order the game from their set-top boxes or by calling their program provider:

What is the site that usually streams these games? Because if that is indeed the case, I am hooking the computer up to the TV and that will be that!

I usually pony up for these things, but not so sure this time. $40 is an absurd price to have to pay.

Anybody got any info on the replay ... when it is and/or whether the replay is HD?

  7. #7
Glad that I can stream it legally, but why on earth is the streaming more than the PPV? Logic says it should be cheaper because the cable company isn't getting a share.

For those complaining about the cost ofPPV....
if you live close enough I'm sure youcould attend this game for a much lower cost by buying a very cheap ticketjust out side the stadium.
Arrive 4 hours early and there will befree parking on the streets.

I could have made some money one year. Everyone chipped in and it was way more than enough. I actually had to figure out how much per person. I wasn't about to make money on it from my friends. It's less than 5 bucks a head lol. I don't like the PPV but its not because of the cost.

    Can't wait. BOOMER!

Not that it matters but everywhere I looked it wasn't listed. I know that means nothing as they usually wait til game week but it would be nice to have confirmation. For those of us with family games on a Saturday afternoon it would be nice to see it. I'm not going to stream it while coaching.

If you don't count the $75 bar and food tab.

If you don't like the price, make a couple calls, and find a sports bar that's showing it. Put your $40+ towards feeding your pie hole.

I just spent $2700.00 for the ability to hack PPV for that game. Those ****s aren't gonna rip me off.

Don't forget you cancel that membership because it will become a recurring monthly charge after the first 3 months.

This should probably go in the unpopular opinion thread but . . .

Going to a live game is fun . . . once.

Paying $40 for a PPV is insane.

I never could get the game on Iheart Radio. Was stuck at work last year, and thought I would be able to stream it, but they just continued playing music the whole time.

  44. #44
does Bartlesville radio still stream the games? I used them for several years but I didn't have to listen to the radio once last year. I'm hoping I'll be able to find something. I live out of state so there is no way I can see this game on tv.

Don't know about that specific station, but here's what I recommend, if you can find a list of stations that carry OU games online, find out if they have a Twitter or Facebook page (most of them will). Tweet em or post on their page if they will be streaming broadcasts online. Worst they'll do is ignore you, and it will take more work than asking here, but you should be able to find out that way.

I've had luck with KKGM 1630 AM out of DFW. They've streamed from their website and the TuneIn Radio app.

A little background on today's pay-per-view bulletin from Norman...

It isn't news that OU's opener against La-Monroe is on pay-per-view. We've known this was coming since last June. What hadn't leaked was the cost -- $39.95. That's the same fee you shelled out to watch last year's home opener against Florida A&M. Same as the Ball State game in '11, Utah State in '10 and Idaho State in '09. (The fee jumped from $29.95 that year.)

If the pay-per-view practice isn't changing, even with OU's $58 million partnership with Fox Sports, neither is the going rate. That will do for consolation.

And about that partnership... Joe Castiglione told our John Hoover last June that the decision to charge pay-per-view for one game rests with Fox, not OU. A by-product of the two entities doing business together.

"They own the game," Castiglione said. "It's theirs to do with as they wish."

The AD said the contract allowed OU to take sports besides football to its public. Those benefits in exposure are vast, and worth forking over the rights to one football game. Castiglione hoped fans would understand that. He expected some would not.

So he also said: "If they decide not to purchase pay-per-view, they'll see the (free) replay beginning late at night. I'm sure Fox won't appreciate me saying that, but if people will just step back and realize: it's a choice, not a requirement."
