There is the potential for you to be stuck in Enid for a day or 2.

That would suck. That's why I want them to move it up. If they play them I'm hoping Incan get at least the 3:00 game in before I have to leave.

I don’t think life threating is over stating things based on the current forecast.

Remember a few years ago when, I think it was UCO wasn't it, who cancelled their December graduation ceremonies because of an expected 8-10 inches of snow, and parts of the metro maybe ended up getting an inch? Forgive me if I take the forecasts with a grain of salt.

That’s why I said “based on the current forecast.”!

They do have a high degree of confidence in their forecast for NW Oklahoma… Less so for the OKC area.
As it is in so much of life…. This is not a black or white situation.....it's a fluid situation.

Dangerous storm my ass. These meteorologists always predict huge amounts of snow for Oklahoma, and they always drop at the most 1-2 inches. You have take their predictions with a grain of salt.

Oklahoma has had a few 30+ inches snow storm totals in the past and many more over a foot.

Saying that “they always drop at the most 1-2 inches “ in Oklahoma is a huge stretch and just not true.
But in recent years they do see to paint the worst case scenario for the OKC metro area and there is a chance that we won’t see very much snow in the OKC area,,,, but we could have nice amount of very welcome rain.

Always? You mean like Christmas Eve 2009? And February 2011?

Yeah, they have missed the boat a few times but to say always is ignorant.

lol. I haven't seen that yet. To NBC the weather forecast ought to be a prime time show. Much drama. He did say we are a bulls eye for this storm. We'll see. He's a Sooner too. We've got everything we need so I'll play it by ear. We're supposed to get a wet mix starting about 6am and then it'll pick up from there. I'm wondering if we'll get thundersnow like last time. It was dry as a bone at 6am and by noon i had almost a foot in my yard.

The system we're getting tomorrow afternoon is in Denver right now.

  26. #1726
I will say this, though. Its starting to look like even the national guys are hedging their bets that OKC may get nothing but what we have had the past couple of weeks - rain, to snow, but not a whole lot sticking.

So on the six o'clock news the big storm was in Colorado but now it's in NM? Did they flip a coin?

First off,my sincerest apologies to you folks that live near Woodward, and Tulsa but for two completely different reasons. No change to the original forecast only some minor adjustments. It appears that 20" of snowfall for NW OK near the Woodward area may have been too conservative. This updated model wants to see 40". So let's bump it up to 25" and call it good. What's another 5" of snow anyway. The reason is because the storm is slowing down even more giving this area a longer time under the heavier snow band.

Also, due to the slightly slower movement, more dry air has a chance to work into the mid levels on the SE side of C OK and for E OK up to Tulsa. That means less snow totals say around Norman compared to Oklahoma City. Also, due to the dry slot, SE of Tulsa drops to just a couple of inches and NW side of Tulsa gets about 5". It really all depends on how much dry air gets entrained. Tough call but it looks like a hard line along I-44 for the heavy stuff. The good news is look at how much precipitation the model is producing, if this were all rain, we're looking at 2-5" in the hard hit drought areas of W/NW OK! That's great news! See prior forecast for all the other pertinent details!

I would be very much okay with this. I'll be going home from work sometime in between 11 and midnight tomorrow and would not like to be driving on I-40 and I-44 in a blizzard.

Northwestern Ok is a lock for a blizzard….. It’s already snowing in Woodward.
There has been some doubt about the amount of snow in forecast for the OKC area for a while now and a lot depends on who the forecast is coming from?

I am sure there is some of that going on.... but some of the computer models that don’t care at all about ratings are showing that a major event will occur in NW Oklahoma.

I believe most if not all it is fully automated. The parameters and the data are set by government workers who are not usually ratings driven….
It’s the interpretations of the data by the met’s who are in the media that is sometimes seen as hype.

Maybe AT isn't crazy to predict 25". Local guys are predicting 20-30".

Well, NW metro 6-12. All of the metro 3-6. Guess this is going to happen somewhat. It could, COULD, be comparable to Xmas Eve here in OKC if this moisture stays and it tracks 30 miles south.

Nah. I predict 3-6 in OKC. Most if not all after 5. Will shut down the city tomorrow. No big real the rest of the week.

The LOW seems to be taking a track that’s on the Southern end of the forecasted path.

How's the weather in Oklahoma today. I live in amarillo and it's blizzard conditions here. The whole town has been shut down. Wind is horrible. Expected 12 to 14 inches. Blizzard warning until 3 am Tuesday.
