Ponch and Jon would never have arrested Roy and Johnny. Just another sign of the times.

This occurred in the Peoples' Republic of Commiefornia, he will probably get an accommodation for "upholding the law and authority in the face of adversity". This is the same state where officers fired over 100 rounds at a vehicle and injured two unarmed middle aged ladies who were delivering newspapers.

I'm surprised LT isn't more supportive of the cop. This community is well known as pro law enforcement.

I do agree that there is a vocal group here that do not seem to like anything law enforcement.... This officer appears to be a ding dong and it would be quite difficult to see what the heck he was thinking....

This is post 9/11; helping the public is not really on the agenda anymore.

The story I read said there was a similar incident 5 years or so ago where the officer was fined $18K.

Cops and fire usually get along as you work the same scenes together quite often but the CHP is a different breed altogether. They are often referred to as "AAA with a badge". Most cops won't ticket other cops if they pull them over and will extend professional courtesy, but that's not the case with CHP. They will ticket cops all the time and it's 50/50 at best if a chippie pulls over a firefighter.

The incident five or six years ago went rather viral out here and didn't help the chippies relationship with fire much. CHP owns the freeways and they get rather pissy if you don't park a certain way. Granted some engineers and captains will park in a way that takes up way too much room and impacts traffic, but some do it just to tweak the chippies since that last incident.

What I've heard is that there was fault on both sides and the engineer was blowing off the chippie completely when asked if they could move the rig a little so the backing up traffic could get one lane to get by. The handcuffing was just way over the top. CHP looks bad but internally both departments could have prevented this.

If I saw this, I would have gotten into the firetruck and pushed the patrolman's vehicle off the road. And Im in law enforcement.

    In short:
    Pro law enforcement? yes.
    Pro arrogant douchbaggery? No.

99 times out of 100, it starts with ****. Somebody's wife/girlfriend is a badge bunnie and goes from blue to red or from red to blue.

This cautionary video will explain things better...

Sounds about right, and similar to what happens here all the damn time.
