Yes, the NWS gives the best forecast out of all of them because they don't do it for ratings.

And yes, anything 3+ days out, especially for winter, is dicey.

You will be right on the edge of ok and disaster.

  12. #7412
Will be interesting to see where the freezing line sets up. Some places in West Central OK will probably see about a half an inch of freezing rain

I'm likely headed back Friday if models continue the way they are. Looks like OKC could start getting into the ice with the latest NAM

  15. #7415
So historic rains today and tomorrow and overnight temps will dip down around 33 or so and stay there tomorrow. Awfully close to 32. Seems like we could easily look up and find ourselves encased in ice. Wouldn't take much of a deviation in the predicted temps.

ICE Storm warning for central and western OK. Winter storm watch for OKC/Norman

    Ice storm warning

the ice is accumulating on elevated surfaces here...
roads are probly still too warm to freeze..

  24. #7424
I had a big ass tree blow down at 1 am. Sounded like the roof of my house caved in. Missed the house by inches.

  25. #7425
Possible icing north and west of an Altus, Meers, Chickasha, OKC line

  26. #7426
Wife canceled her trip to Nebraska. So my bachelor weekend is no more. Sigh...

Glad she did so. The Kansas road conditions looked awful north of Salina.

I'm down at the Norman office hoping this shit doesn't freeze before my 5:00 commute back north.

  27. #7427
Looks like temps will hover at or just above freezing for the next 24 hours. Gonna be close for a lot of us.

Went to the gym in Guthrie around 9:15. Was only raining. When I came out an hour later I had a layer of sleet on the car window, but it turned back into rain on the way home.

Lol. They were raising hell after it went down.

This summer I could tell it wasn't doing too well. Had to cut out a couple large, dead limbs. Past ice storms and drought hurt it. Should have taken it down. Though it will be easier now since it is at eye level.

Short range models sure are going colder with the freezing line farther SE with more ice in OKC than expected.

    HRRR run

NAM model holds temps right at freezing for OKC

So it's a battle of the models to see which one is right

Only change is the winter storm watch is a winter weather advisory. Everything else is the same for warnings right now.

  40. #7440

  41. #7441

OKC roads are fine right now. Just wet. Tonight, that will likely change, at least on bridges and overpasses

  48. #7448
Soil temps are still in mid 40s. Surely the roads won't freeze tonight, will they? I'd really like her to attend her hen party.

  49. #7449
This seemed premature three hours ago...

@OHPtraffic: OKC Metro area- We are receiving rain/sleet at this time. Bridges and overpasses are beginning to ice over....RRW 11.27.2015 at 1045 hours

Main roads should be fine, as long as it doesn't come down as sleet, but bridges and overpasses won't be very good.
