Not only that but the stock tanks are just about bone dry in much of SW Ok and North Texas.....

Waurika reservoir is only at about 40% capacity...

Wichita Falls is in deep shit with major water rationing...I think they are about to shut down all car washes...they have hired a rain maker and hoping for success....

Have you considered honking at them to get out of the road? Maybe putting bull bars on the truck?

For OKC it will be the 5th latest freeze since 1891.....

Since I brought up rain makers....

Back in the early 70's Lawton was in a terrible drought....the two Lawton lakes were quickly drying up....so Lawton hired some guy names Krick (something like that) to set up a rainmaking system....

Prior to rain making operation Lake Lawtonka was so low they decided to dredge the slew where the main boat launch was located...hell, it was dry so it damn sure was the time to do the job...at the time I was waterskiing on a daily basis and there spots in the middle of the lake where I could stand on bottom...

Next thing you know it starts raining on a regular basis....heavy rain...the lake starts to fill...the dredging equipment was in danger of being flooded so they built a damn at the entrance of the slew....

And it rains more...and more.....and more...so much so they were questioning the integrity of the damn....

The city ended up terminating the rainmaking contract early.....

They're forecasting a low of 30 for Guthrie. Should I disconnect my hoses?

    MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0334
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
    1226 PM CDT SUN APR 13 2014

AREAS AFFECTED...MUCH OF CENTRAL INTO EASTERN OKLAHOMA...INTO PARTS
    OF NW TEXAS

    CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...TORNADO WATCH LIKELY

    VALID 131726Z - 131900Z

    PROBABILITY OF WATCH ISSUANCE...80 PERCENT

SUMMARY...THE RISK FOR SEVERE STORMS COULD INCREASE BY 19-20Z ACROSS
PARTS OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA...BEFORE SPREADING EASTWARD LATER THIS
    AFTERNOON.

DISCUSSION...A NARROW PRE-FRONTAL CORRIDOR OF STRONGER SURFACE
HEATING AND DEEPER BOUNDARY LAYER MIXING IS ONGOING ACROSS PARTS OF
    NORTHWEST TEXAS/SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA...INTO NORTH CENTRAL/CENTRAL
OKLAHOMA. AND AN INCREASINGLY WELL DEFINED DRYLINE IS EXPECTED TO
ADVANCE EASTWARD ACROSS THE INTERSTATE 35 CORRIDOR OF OKLAHOMA
DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS. AS IT DOES...COINCIDING WITH STRONGER
MID-LEVEL HEIGHT FALLS SPREADING EAST OF THE HIGH PLAINS...IT
APPEARS PROBABLE THAT FORCING FOR UPWARD VERTICAL MOTION WILL WEAKEN
INHIBITION SUFFICIENTLY FOR THE INITIATION OF BOUNDARY LAYER BASED
STORMS BY AROUND 19-20Z...IF NOT BEFORE. ONCE THIS OCCURS...IN THE
PRESENCE OF AN ENVIRONMENT CHARACTERIZED BY STEEP MID-LEVEL LAPSE
RATES...SUPPORTIVE OF LARGE CAPE...AND MODERATELY STRONG DEEP LAYER
MEAN FLOW AND SHEAR /500 MB WIND ON THE ORDER OF 40-50
KT/...DISCRETE SUPERCELL DEVELOPMENT APPEARS LIKELY...AT LEAST
    INITIALLY.

LARGE HAIL MAY BE THE PRIMARY THREAT INITIALLY...BUT ACTIVITY
PROPAGATING OFF...AND OUT AHEAD OF...THE DRYLINE MAY BE ACCOMPANIED
BY INCREASING TORNADIC POTENTIAL...IN THE PRESENCE OF LARGER
CLOCKWISE CURVED LOW-LEVEL HODOGRAPHS WHICH SHOULD PERSIST ACROSS
EASTERN OKLAHOMA LATE THIS AFTERNOON. OTHERWISE...AS THE SOUTHWARD
SURGING COLD FRONT OVERTAKES THE DRYLINE...AN UPSCALE GROWING SQUALL
LINE APPEARS POSSIBLE...ACCOMPANIED MAINLY BY THE RISK FOR SEVERE
    WIND AND HAIL.

Really? I was near the 35 and 44 junction when I got pummeled by torrential downpour and small hail. You must be further west I guess. I was looking at the radar before I left and I thought that shit was going north of me.

It formed right over my neighborhood and probably started raining a mile or so East of me.

Same here. Also low of only 36. Now they are forecasting 26 for tomorrow morning. I'll go disconnect my hoses.

After the Masters was over I heard one of the News9 storm chasers say "possible multiple vortices." That made my day.

  48. #248
We had rain most of the day/night yesterday. Today, misty in the morning, turning to rain, then snow by afternoon-evening.

  49. #249
High eighties and nineties over the weekend, snowing this morning. Oklahoma.

  50. #250
There is no rhyme or reason why it should be snowing (and pretty strong) in downtown OKC on April 14th
